Daily Inspiration: Meet Darius Page

Today we’d like to introduce you to Darius Page.

Hi Darius, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
From the first time I started singing, I knew music was more than just something I enjoyed. It became the passion that inspired me to excel and became a burning desire that outshines anything else I would consider doing for a lifetime. Throughout my childhood and my teen years, I would always participate in different choirs and talent shows, but I didn’t consider pursuing music professionally until two years ago. Through my own personal development and guidance as well as criticism from both friends and stranger alike, I created my own sound and Identity. “Fantastic” comes from the confidence and belief through repetition and practice that I can apply my own unique skills and talents both inside and outside of music. With my most recent release, “You Make My Mind Different, ” as well as recently going viral on Tiktok and hitting 7.7 million views for my reaction to the Netflix series “Sexy Beasts,” I am striving to prove to myself everyday that I can be better than I was yesterday. Shout out to all my friends, my brothers and sisters from the 626 who support me. I love yall, AND WE UP NEXT!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
2019 I got stabbed, wasn’t the best year after that and recovery for my left arm was interesting to say the least. I still remember how the blood felt running down soaking into my shorts. It’s strange how I wasn’t concerned about my life as much as I was annoyed by the bombardment of questions but lack of medical help. I learned very quickly that year that helping strangers is good, but you need to be careful about who you help. Seeing my own muscle protruding out of my arm was an unforgettable experience. There are a lot of things I could tell you about the loss I’ve experienced and different traumatic situations through my lifetime, but out of respect for my loved ones and the ones I care about that lost someone they love, I’ll just end with this; Love your family and friends and watch their back when you are with them. Oh and one last thing, our Tiktok was banned after we went viral! Apparently, we violated a guideline, but the reasoning behind the ban did not make any sense. I posted about it and had the entire cast of the episode from Sexy Beasts (the panda, tin man, alien and bull) I posted hit me up on Instagram to ask why we were banned too. They also agreed the reason made no sense at all, so hopefully we can get it back. We were trending #1 on TikTok and twitter and had all kinds of meme pages reposting our videos on IG. We will see what happens, but Tiktok should unban groovypages!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I feel like three of my biggest strengths are that I am always open to learning more, I am able to effectively market myself, and that the music/content I create is not only unique but has replay value. These important factors that I apply to my music, Tiktok, and Xbox content is simply a mindset that I apply while creating that acts as sort of a mental checklist that ensures it comes out the way I’m imagining it or the theme to be. I believe this is what led to us going viral on Tiktok and hitting 7.7 million views in a day as well as the success behind my other projects and music releases.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
A few things:

1. Sign up for UnitedMasters or Distrokid if you are independent, I don’t care what anyone else says.

2. Buy your beats and always tag credits for engineers/producers or whoever should get it for something they did for you.

3. Be humble, but be very confident.

4. USE MYAFTON.COM if you aren’t getting paid for shows and you want to start making money when you perform.

5. Be you, be your own wave. Make the music you want to hear.

6. Memorize your song before you go into the studio.

7. It’s and old saying, but practice really does make perfect.
