Daily Inspiration: Meet Comaneshi Boudreaux

Today we’d like to introduce you to Comaneshi Boudreaux.

Hi Comaneshi, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Growing up as a kid, I’ll say about 9 or 10 years old, dolls and baby dolls were always on my Christmas list! I remember taking down the original styles from my doll’s hair and transforming them out to some kind of chopped hair cut, a nice sleek mold down or whatever cool look popped up in mind! I was 12 years old when I discovered this is really who I am and my talent of being a potential hairstylist. It all started from me taking down a ponytail and while sliding the rubber band down, I started shaping, forming and tucking my hair until it was tucked into a bun. I yelled out to my mom about this creative do I had just designed without being trained! I was super excited and from that day, I knew I was destined to be a hairstylist. At this point in my eyesight, I was a “Beautician”. No one could tell me that I wasn’t! I would do my school friend’s hair, at school, my mom, sister, women in the neighborhood and I would gain new clients just about every week. I was amazed at how they believed in me at such a young age.

As time passed, I graduated from high school and enrolled into college, knowing deep down inside that I wanted to be a “Professional Beautician”. My mom wanted the best for my siblings and I, especially having an educated background, that’s the route that’s normally taken straight out of high school. Honestly, I did more hair than I opened my books. I did some years in college but my heart wasn’t fully satisfied at the time. I would literally work on clients all day and night without being licensed. I felt as though my talent was going to waste and I was working in vain. I hit some bumps and bruises in college and decided to stop. At that point, my mom was paying my tuition and I knew I couldn’t ask for anything else. My finances were extremely light but I was determined to enroll into cosmetology school. I met a prophet through my brother that told me “you’re a good person and you do good things for everybody but nobody’s never there for you. You will be alright because you have a blessing on the way”! Little did I know my finances were getting ready to be blessed which enabled me to enroll into cosmetology school.

During my journey, I ran across a few people who hosted fashion/hair shows through local foundations and hair salons. Luckily, I was able to land gigs as a volunteer hairstylist and makeup artist! That was the beginning of what I always dreamed and hoped for. Being able to commit to those tasks without being licensed was truly an honor to me. I’ve always been a big dreamer and thinker. The moment I started trusting God and my faith, all doors began to open through claiming prosperity and success. I was able to obtain my license, work in salons and open two hair salons of my own but I knew I was destined for more.

The ultimate goal was to set myself apart from being just a hairstylist who stands behind the chair all day in a salon. Anyone who knows me knows what I stand for and that’s “Hair Education”! I’m a fast observant learner and I’ll travel to any state where I think it’s beneficial to help improve and enhance the quality of my work. I’ve taken some certifying courses with several celeb hairstylists in Detroit, Chicago, Atlanta, New York, Philadelphia, Houston, Dallas and Orlando. I love who I’ve become from that! I’m best known as a “bridal hairstylist,” including other skills such as: silk pressing, cutting, coloring, wig making, makeup artistry, short hair designs, loc maintenance, modeling, onset and event hairstyling.

Los Angeles was the biggest goal I manifested on almost a decade ago and that was one day moving to LA for better opportunities. In addition to that dream, I inquired about a gig back in 2016, volunteering as a hairstylist for an Oscar awards red carpet party event in Culver City. In fact, I was one of the chosen hairstylists. That was a super inspiring achievement for me, not only because of the event but because I was the only African American hairstylist and my work spoke for itself. After that experience, I wanted nothing less!

Now, I’m officially a resident of Los Angeles! My plans failed so many times until I started feeling maybe I’m dreaming wrong. It just wouldn’t give me peace not being able to get to where my heart desired to be. I felt and spoke it daily until it actually manifested. I took the leap of faith by moving to California, June 2021 leaving behind a large clientele who I’ve serviced for years and of course my family whom I love all very much. I trusted God, along with the encouragement of my family, friends and the constant words of my younger brother sternly telling me to “just leave and go”! I did just that. Many people that I know, as well as strangers would always tell me how great I am and that I have so much in store for me. I felt and believed it. This was a very big move for me. I’ve never lived away from home ever in my entire life. It was the most scariest and exciting feeling ever! I’m grateful for every opportunity that had crossed my path because I would not have made it to where I am now. I’m such a humble person, right from a small town named “Vacherie” in Louisiana, just miles away from New Orleans. I deserve the best and most definitely expecting great things on this new journey. I hope to inspire and meet many, many people.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
No, it has not been an easy road. Nothing in life comes easy. Everything comes with a sacrifice. I have encountered financial hardships, setbacks after setbacks from being in negative spaces, hoping at least one person would believe in me, I’ve lost out on things, major opportunities and the worst of them all, losing my dad on the morning of his 70th birthday to Covid-19, the moment it 1st attacked the world. I was at the point where I just felt like giving up on everything but I would always hear a strong voice saying “you are not a quitter, quitter’s never win”. When you don’t give up, you’ll eventually see the light at the end of the tunnel.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I believe I’m the epitome of a unique and creative hairstylist! Possessing a combination of skills and experiences that makes me stand out from the crowd. I’m loyal and committed to whatever I do. I’m known best for my creativity as a bridal hairstylist. Specializing in other skills such as: silk pressing, pinups, cutting, coloring, wig making, makeup artistry, short hair designs, loc maintenance, modeling, on set and event hairstyling. There’s a new amazing project I’m working on and that’ll be launching elegant bridal headpieces, customized cathedral veils and bridal jewelry fall 2021. I’m most proud of moving to a larger city such as Los Angeles where I can exhibit my talents on a much higher level.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I see my industry going places never heard of because of the more futuristic trends that blossom on a daily! I’m into networking at any means necessary. I made necessary changes to get to where I need to be. The goal is to meet the right person to recognize the talent and creativity I was born with. I’m looking forward to seeing my brand being advertised on the greatest advertising print media source there is.
