Daily Inspiration: Meet Christina Gondosaputro

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Gondosaputro

Hi Christina, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Where to begin! I’ve always had a passion in makeup, but it wasn’t until end of 2018 when I decided to dabble in the makeup industry. At the time, my full time job was Physical Therapy Assistant. After working for a couple years, I realized PTA wasn’t something I wanted to do forever. I was so new in the beauty industry, I had no idea how to find clients or even market myself because social media wasn’t something I was great at. During the summer of 2019, I stumbles upon a bridal makeup/hair company with about 30 artists. Not sure if I wanted to be a bridal artist, but that’s where my journey in makeup started. In the beginning of 2021, I decided to learn hair. Styling hair started to become an interest of mine, but honestly, it was because the owner of the company I worked for saw the potential I had. I started paying/taking for more makeup and hair classes to improve my skills in both. I also started marketing myself more on Instagram! My account @makeup.bychristinaaa was created in 2019 with posts I’ve done on people for FREE (I wanted to get experience and the more models, the better). I started from 1 bride in 2021 to 40+ brides in 2024. I am extremely grateful. Still so much to learn and hope to get better each year.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I wouldn’t say it has been a smooth road, but it’s definitely a learning curve! I love working in the wedding industry and hope to venture out on commercial or editorial. Marketing myself is definitely the most challenging! I am only creative in face and hair 🙂 I also have a family. I love spending as much time with them, but editing videos, posting content, emails, working, can really take a toll on the family dynamic. Balance is always in the works!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a hair and makeup artist in Southern California. My goal is to travel for work so people can see it all around the world. I specialize in bridal and known for my soft glam looks! What sets me apart is even when I learn from others, I still have a technique that people know and love. Once of my toxic traits is change. I stick with a certain style and I usually just stick with it!

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I was never a risk taker. I hate change and I’m comfortable knowing what the next steps are before deciding on something. With my career, I was a PTA full time for 5.5 years. I was pregnant with my daughter when I took the risk of quitting my stable job with benefits to pursue my passion in beauty. I had a lot of anxiety and I still do sometimes, but I know it’ll all be worth it. I quit knowing I won’t have any benefits. I quit knowing the wedding industry is unstable. I quit knowing there are going to be days/weeks without work. But those are all the risks I’m willing to take to succeed in this career and create a beautiful life for my family. I have all the support from my husband, family and friends!
