Daily Inspiration: Meet Carmen Uribe

Today we’re excited to be connecting with Carmen Uribe again. If you haven’t already, we suggest you check out our prior conversation with them here.

Carmen , thanks for joining us again. Just to level set a bit for folks who may have missed our last interview together, can you briefly introduce yourself?
I’m excited to reconnect with you as well. I am Carmen Uribe co-owner with my husband Luis of A Greener Tomorrow Landscaping Inc., a landscape design company serving Culver City and the Westside of Los Angeles for over 30 years. My passion lies in creating sustainable, beautiful outdoor spaces that blend functionality with California’s natural beauty.

What sets my work apart is a deep commitment to eco-friendly practices, incorporating drought-tolerant plants, native landscaping, and innovative design solutions tailored to each client’s needs. Beyond that, my experience as a landscape designer is enriched by my love for nature and the Westside of Los Angeles, Also owning 4 acres of land in a rural community in San Diego is a privilege and where I draw constant inspiration.

My journey began with a strong appreciation for outdoor spaces, evolving into a lifelong dedication to transforming landscapes into harmonious, inviting environments. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of designing projects that enhance homes, businesses, and public spaces, always striving to balance aesthetics with sustainability.

I’m looking forward to sharing more and appreciate the opportunity to connect again!

Great, so let’s jump into an update on what you have been up to since we last spoke. What can you share with us?
Thank you! It’s always a pleasure to share updates, and I appreciate the opportunity to reconnect.

Since our last conversation, A Greener Tomorrow Landscaping Inc. has been thriving with some exciting projects that continue to push creativity and sustainability forward. One of the highlights has been working on large-scale landscape designs in both corporate and residential spaces, including a project at Sony Pictures in Culver City and many residential projects in Culver City and Playa Vista. These projects have allowed me to integrate more drought-resistant, native plant designs, a focus that has become even more crucial with California’s ongoing water challenges.

Beyond that, I’ve been spending some time at our farm in San Diego , which has been incredibly rewarding. These spaces not only keep me connected to nature but also inspire new ideas for sustainable land management and edible landscaping—something I’m passionate about incorporating more into my work.

One of the most exciting personal milestones recently was celebrating my daughter’s 23rd birthday—she’s a landscape architect, and it’s been amazing to see her career evolve. Having her in the same landscaping world has sparked even more creative conversations, and I love seeing how our professional worlds intersect.

Of course, every journey has its challenges, and balancing large-scale projects with my love for hands-on, detail-driven design work is something I’m constantly navigating. But overall, I’m excited about what’s ahead—new collaborations, fresh design concepts, and continuing to make outdoor spaces in Southern California greener and more beautiful particularly and specialized in all of the Westside of Los Angeles California

I’m also looking forward to continuing our work in Culver City and the Westside , where we’ve had the privilege of designing landscapes that enhance both residential and commercial spaces. This city has always been a hub for creativity and innovation, and I’m excited to bring more eco-friendly, modern, and functional outdoor spaces to the community. Whether it’s transforming urban courtyards, revitalizing corporate campuses, or creating lush, low-water gardens for homeowners, we’re committed to making Culver City greener and more sustainable.

On a personal level, I’m excited to collaborate more with my daughter and to keep growing as a family-owned business. Exploring ways to blend landscape and architectural design seamlessly is something I find truly inspiring.

Most importantly, all of us at A Greener Tomorrow Inc are anxious to help rebuild and re-landscape Pacific Palisades, an area we proudly serve and where many of our clients have tragically lost their homes. Restoring these landscapes is not just about aesthetics—it’s about bringing life, greenery, and a sense of renewal back to a community that means so much to us. It may take a while but we are ready as can be.

And, of course, I’m always eager to take on new projects—whether it’s a corporate campus, a residential oasis, or a community space, I love the challenge of designing landscapes that enhance both function and beauty.

It’s shaping up to be a busy and fulfilling year, and I can’t wait to see how everything unfolds!
