Today we’d like to introduce you to Ayumi Williams. They and their team shared their story with us below:
Inspirational Journey: Empowering Women and Building Connections
Meet Ayumi, a dynamic force originating from the vibrant culture of Japan. Ayumi, a seasoned Fashion and UX Designer, brings a unique blend of creativity and purpose to the world. As the Co-Founder of Boonoob, a social activity app dedicated to fostering authentic friendships, Ayumi recognizes the importance of meaningful connections in today’s fast-paced world.
Hailing from Japan, Ayumi has made it her life’s mission to inspire and advocate for women’s rights, constantly working towards improving the status of women in society. “I believe in the power of women supporting women. We are capable of incredible things when we come together and uplift each other,” Ayumi passionately expresses.
Beyond the realms of fashion and design, Ayumi is on a quest to simplify and enhance lives. As a believer in the magic of creation, she views designers as modern-day magicians who bring the unseen into existence. “Creating is not just a job for me; it’s a way of making the world a more meaningful and mindful place,” she reflects.
In addition to her design ventures, Ayumi is deeply committed to advancing equal rights, equity, and inclusion. “I want to make a lasting impact on creating an equitable and inclusive society. It’s about ensuring that everyone has a seat at the table and feels valued,” she asserts with conviction.
But Ayumi’s journey doesn’t stop there. Her love for creativity and art, cultivated since an early age, is not just a personal joy but a source of inspiration for those around her. “Living a life immersed in creativity is a humble privilege, and I strive to use that privilege to bring positive change,” she shares.
Ayumi is also an advocate for women’s financial literacy. Understanding the power of money and its impact on women’s autonomy, she believes in demystifying finance to empower women. “Money is power, and women should feel confident and prepared when it comes to their financial well-being,” she emphasizes.
As Ayumi looks to the future, she envisions expanding her horizons and creating beautiful, functional experiences with a powerful mission. “I want to contribute to making the world a better place by designing solutions that simplify and enrich people’s lives,” she concludes, leaving us inspired by her dedication to creativity, advocacy, and building connections.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Ayumi’s journey took an unexpected turn nine years ago when she embraced motherhood. The joy of welcoming a new life into the world was accompanied by the realization of societal expectations that seemed to defy the very essence of balance.
“I was shocked to find that, in the 21st century, there still exists a pervasive expectation for women to compartmentalize their lives,” Ayumi reflects. As a mother, she discovered the disheartening reality that the workplace often demanded women to disregard their roles as mothers, and conversely, the home expected them to overlook their professional ambitions.
It was a challenging period for Ayumi. The struggle to navigate a world that expected her to downplay her role as a mother in professional settings while simultaneously downplaying her professional aspirations in the domestic sphere weighed heavily on her shoulders.
Determined to challenge this societal norm, Ayumi decided to become a vocal advocate for change. She passionately states, “I strongly committed myself to make a difference. No woman should feel compelled to choose between being a dedicated mother and pursuing a dream job she loves.”
Ayumi’s commitment is not just a personal journey; it’s a mission to create a world where new moms don’t have to feel like they’re walking a tightrope, constantly juggling their roles. “I want to break down these barriers and create an environment where women can seamlessly embrace both worlds – motherhood and professional fulfillment,” she asserts with unwavering determination.
In her pursuit of reshaping societal norms, Ayumi envisions a future where new moms feel supported, empowered, and unencumbered by outdated expectations. She aims to foster an inclusive environment that not only acknowledges the multifaceted nature of women but celebrates and supports their endeavors on all fronts.
As Ayumi continues to advocate for change, her challenging story stands as a testament to her resilience and determination to create a world where women, especially new moms, can thrive both in their personal and professional pursuits.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
In the tapestry of Ayumi’s life, her husband and daughter stand as unwavering stones, providing the foundation for her journey. “Having my husband and daughter believe in me has been the driving force behind my pursuit to challenge societal norms. They are my constant reminder that I can achieve anything I set my mind to,” Ayumi warmly acknowledges.
Her parents, too, played a pivotal role in shaping her path. “I am grateful for the freedom my parents granted me to follow my heart’s calling. They sacrificed and provided everything they had, even when resources were limited. Their unwavering support laid the groundwork for the pursuit of my dreams,” Ayumi reflects with deep appreciation.
Amidst Ayumi’s professional journey, Barbara Huff emerged as a guiding light. “Barbara showed me the sheer joy of being a fashion designer. Her passion for creativity and the boundless possibilities within the field ignited a fire within me. She demonstrated that a career could be both fulfilling and exhilarating,” Ayumi reminisces.
Another influential figure in Ayumi’s life is Osi Shoman, who imparted invaluable wisdom about balancing motherhood and a successful career. “Osi taught me the mantra of working smarter, not harder. She shattered the misconception that being a mom and pursuing a career were mutually exclusive. Her mentorship was transformative, showing me that I can happily navigate both worlds,” Ayumi affirms.
