Daily Inspiration: Meet Ashley Hargrove

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Hargrove.

Hi Ashley, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I remember several years ago starting in background and reenactments. I had found an ad on Craigslist for ABC and had started there. I took a little break to focus on college for cybersecurity. When I went back, I dove head headfirst in with my agent, and eventually a PR manager. I also took on voiceover work. You will find me in cartoons, videogames, books, commercials, PSAs, and more.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Every journey has it’s struggles. I took some time off for a bit. At one point, I was deemed too average looking, and thus was always the assistant, the sister, the daughter. I had to find a way to break out of that, and eventually took on more challenging roles.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I work as an actress, voiceover artist, and writer. You can find me in a mix of films and commercials, while providing my voice for cartoons and videogames primarily. I pop up in Afk Journey, Lost Lands X, Baby Bus, and currently voice Gerty in PakaPaka. As for writing, I write both novels and scripts. I also continue to study in stunts and gymnastics.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I think the best for me was getting to voice Gerty in PakaPaka. I play a purple alpaca who has to put up with her brother Skidder. This role allowed me to challenge myself and step out of my norm. Although getting to try villain roles has been quite fun! Also getting to bring my scripts Caroline of Mine and Marriage Bites to life. Learning to raise funding, work with a PR mgr, and put the projects together has been both challenging and rewarding experience.
