Daily Inspiration: Meet Ariana D’souza

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ariana D’souza

Ariana, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
This question always intrigues me because I can never truly remember a time when I wasn’t performing. I never decided to be an Actor because I was always Acting in some way, shape or form. I started off as a dancer and I did different styles of dance; Tap, Hip Hop and Jazz mainly and I always sang so that progressed into me doing a lot of choir and singing growing up. But Acting was always the big dream. I think somewhere along the line, the term I used as a child; ‘pop star’ turned into ‘aspiring actress’ which turned me into the Actor I am today and I’m grateful for the training and experiences I’ve received that have shaped and paved a path for who I am as both an artist and a person.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Struggle is only a part of life and I’ve always felt as if the times in my life in which I’ve struggled the most I have gained the most out of it. As any artist would claim, the biggest struggle is being booked. But what a lot of people don’t realize is that your struggles begin much before you even get in that audition room. Being young in an industry where you can so easily be replaced is a struggle in itself and I need to remind myself in every audition room that there is only one of me, there can only be one Ariana D’souza and that applies to every other artist, you can never truly be someone else and that’s why I think it’s so important to find who you are and discover your individuality and values in life which ultimately gives you a greater purpose.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am both an Actor and a Singer. I have worked with film, stage and commercial work. I tend to enjoy playing roles that are striking and different, characters that alter the story such as antagonists, although I truly love playing it all. When I become a character, I lose a complete sense of myself. I find beauty in completely inhabiting new mannerisms and abilities for this person. I think when leading up to the overlook of my career, I am most proud of my discipline and ambition, they are the two most important things you can have in your career as an artist, maintaining the ability to get back up and start again when you are fallen and broken down and having the ambition to maintain the spark that made you begin doing what you love.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I think we can all agree that the industry has been a little show within the past year and as artists, despite the rate of the industry, artistry never stops. While trends and changes will definitely affect the industry, I do believe that the demand for art and entertainment will never stop. It’s why we do what we do because it’s not just for audiences but because it gives us a feeling of purpose in this life. Art and creativity can never stop so long as we are alive.
