Today we’d like to introduce you to Alejandra Mikulan.
Hi Alejandra, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’m an actress, born and raised in Argentina. A few years ago, I decided to make my dream come true, and I moved to Los Angeles to take the next step in my career. I’ve performed several roles on TV and theater while I was in Argentina, and in the USA I’ve performed in different platforms such as commercial, film and live performances.
Because of the pandemic, I decided to use this dead time to travel and visit places I always wanted to: Vienna, Innsbruck, Budapest, Bratislava, Warsaw, Kraków, Venice, Florence, Rome, the Amalfi Coast, Sicily, Verona, Milan, Madrid, Pipa (Brazil) and Rio de Janeiro). Of course, I had to make the most of it and started a travel vlog, creating content for Tiktok, Instagram and YouTube.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I think moving to the USA was one of the most difficult things I’ve done in my life! It took some hard work to get the artist’s green card because I did all the process by myself without a lawyer. But that wasn’t just it; coming from another country means you have to adapt, not only to another language, but also to a different culture, different customs, different food, different driving rules, and different bureaucracy! On top of that, the film and TV industry is also very different, I enjoy learning everyday how to better be part of it and that’s one of the most enjoyable things of all this adventure.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Most of my work have been performing young characters for youth TV series, with different genres and point of views. It sets me apart from others that I speak fluently two languages (Spanish and English) and I know a little more than the basics of Italian, German and Portuguese. I also studied music from a long time, I have academic education in violin, trumpet, electric bass, piano and singing and I have performed several characters that were also musicians. I also know Kung Fu, horseback riding and I’m taking surfing lessons! I’m very proud of having worked in one of the most renowned theater venues in Buenos Aires, the city theater Centro Teatral de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires. It’s one of the biggest aspirations as an actor in Buenos Aires and I had the opportunity to perform there in 2010.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
The ones that deserve lots of credit are my parents! They have always encouraged me to follow my passion. I started doing theater and studying music when I was 12, they always took me to the crazy scheduled rehearsals, they went to see my best and worst theater plays, they helped me learning lines and cheered me up when things didn’t go as expected. I have a degree on acting because of my effort but also because my family supported me to study for a profession I love and enjoy working at every day of my life.
