Today we’d like to introduce you to Tomas Delgado.
Hi tomas, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
We have been in business 97 years. Started in Mexico and moved to Boyle Heights in 1947. I have been the owner for 37 years
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There are always challenges. In life no matter what you choose as a profession. Money relationships with clients or local politicians but I find that being passionate about what you do gets you up every morning willing to tackle those challenges
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a 3 rd generation luthier. I customers make guitars I do high end restoration on guitars, violins , folk instruments. I am very proud of the fact that I have been able to service our community and still stay in business for all these years. And now pass it on to our new member (my son) the 4 the generation
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Find something you truly love. Be ready to WORK. Being lazy doesn’t work.
I wish I knew that local government doesn’t help much at all. They don’t value small businesses the way you would think. Pour your energy into your work and clients. They will stand next to you and help
You
