Conversations with Thomas Lynch

Today we’re excited to be connecting with Thomas Lynch again. If you haven’t already, we suggest you check out our prior conversation with them here.

Thomas, we are so thrilled to be connecting again and can’t wait to hear about all the amazing things you have been up to. Before we jump into all of that, some of our readers might have missed our prior interview, so can you take a moment to reintroduce yourself?
I’m Thomas Lynch, a commercial, portrait, and lifestyle photographer based in Los Angeles. Since we last connected, I’ve transitioned more into the commercial space, collaborating with brands to expand my portfolio. Over the past year, I’ve worked with clients like Adidas, Emery Golf, Orchard City Kitchen, Despierrot, and Plasticbuckettt, focusing on helping them shape their brand image. Many of these clients are based in the Bay Area and LA—places that hold a special place in my heart. Growing up in the Bay, I enjoy giving back to those communities while also reconnecting with family and friends when I work up north.

Great, so let’s jump into an update on what you have been up to since we last spoke. What can you share with us?
Since we last spoke, I’ve opened my own photo studio in Downtown LA’s Flower District—a major goal I’m proud to have achieved. It’s been invaluable for growth, giving me the freedom to experiment and control my environment. I’ve also taken on the role of Head Photographer and Creative Director at Emery Golf. The experience has been both exciting and educational, and seeing my work featured in ads has been a dream come true. I’m eager to help the brand grow and see where this experience takes me. Alongside that, I’ve been expanding my portrait and lifestyle work while gaining invaluable hands-on experience as a Photo Assistant. The knowledge I’ve gained on set has proven priceless, directly impacting my own photography. My journey is still evolving, and seeing my progress keeps me inspired and motivated. I’m excited to keep pushing forward to the next level!

Alright, so let’s do something a bit more fast-paced and lighthearted. We call this our lightning round and we’ll ask you a few quick questions.

What are you most excited about in the coming year?
The unknown is both dangerously intriguing and exciting. A non-mundane schedule can be thrilling, yet also a bit scary. In the year ahead, there’s so much that could happen—last-minute jobs with a wide range of people. Some will be kind, funny, and interesting, while others may be rude or difficult. The pendulum swings both ways, but in the end, there will always be memories, and I’m sure I’ll laugh at some of them one day. Work can also take you to amazing places. For me, a big goal is to land a photo job that takes me both out of state and internationally, and that’s something I’m actively working toward!
