Today we’d like to introduce you to Tashi Lee.
Hi Tashi, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m a 28 years old half black half Asian rapper with lots of tattoos from Los Angeles, California who just got out of prison from doing almost a decade behind bars and just recently started a brand and clothing line called “This Here Wasn’t Easy”!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all.. part of the reason why I started my brand/clothing line! Racism, poverty, discrimination, you name it.. think of any shape of adversity and I’ve dealt with it in some way, form or fashion.. as well as my friends and peer group. It’s hard coming from where I come from.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a rapper/musician. I am most proud of getting these four associate’s degrees that I just recently got while incarcerated though! Psychology, Anthropology, Liberal Arts and Humanities, & Social and Behavioral Sciences! What sets me apart from others is my drive! I literally just went from 230 pounds to 190 in 60 days last year after going on an all salad and fruit diet for the months of August and September! My drive makes me different. I feel I can accomplish anything I set my mind to do…
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
I was in prison for the whole Pandemic sadly!
