Conversations with Sheena Pratt

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sheena Pratt

Sheena, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
For as long as I can remember, I’ve loved connecting with others and guiding them toward solutions that improve their lives. My professional journey began in the insurance industry, where I built strong relationships with clients by helping them protect what mattered most. Interestingly, many of those clients often asked, “Have you ever thought about going into real estate?” At the time, I hadn’t. But as the question continued to arise, I began to seriously consider it. I was at a crossroads, debating whether to open my own insurance agency or take a leap of faith into real estate.
As someone who leans heavily on faith, I prayed for guidance and clarity. I felt God’s nudge leading me toward real estate, and that’s exactly what I pursued. After earning my license, I was determined to make things happen. Just three months in, I sent an email about an expired listing, never expecting it to change my life. That email ended up in the hands of one of the largest corporate real estate rehabbers in the country, and the synergy between us was nothing short of divine. Over the last five years, that relationship has blossomed, leading to more than 130 successful transactions and over $85million in sales. Looking back, I can clearly see how faith, hard work, and a deep love for helping others paved the way for the career I’m so grateful to have today.
Every step of my journey has reinforced my belief in trusting God’s plan, staying true to my values, and being open to the opportunities that arise when you align your passion with purpose. Real estate has given me the chance to make a meaningful impact, and I’m excited to see where this path leads next.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
While my journey in real estate has been rewarding, it hasn’t always been easy. As the saying goes, “To whom much is given, much is required.” Real estate is a demanding industry, with its constant ups and downs, and it challenges you to remain resilient, adaptable, and forward-thinking. As a new agent, I was blessed to be consistently transacting early in my career—an accomplishment I didn’t take lightly. However, success brought its own set of challenges, especially when my personal life was thrown into turmoil.
Shortly after I got my footing in real estate, my father became seriously ill. He was living across the state, which meant I had to juggle catching several flights a week back and forth with the demands of caring for him. At the same time, I was working hard to meet the high expectations of clients, both buyers and sellers, while building a team and stepping into a leadership role. There were moments when the weight of responsibility felt overwhelming, and I questioned how I could possibly manage everything on my plate. But leaning on my faith, I reminded myself that God doesn’t bring us to a challenge without equipping us for it.
Through those difficult times, I learned the importance of prioritizing, leaning on a support system, and staying focused on the bigger picture. My clients, my team, and my family taught me resilience and patience. Those years were some of the most challenging in my career, but they also shaped me into the person I am today. I’m incredibly grateful for the lessons that came from balancing the responsibilities of being a leader, a caregiver, and a trusted real estate professional. The struggles tested me but ultimately deepened my appreciation for the blessings I’ve been given, reminding me that the best rewards often come through perseverance.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Today, I am proud to serve as a brokerage associate and the team lead for The Pratt Group, a dedicated real estate team brokered by Wedgewood Homes Realty. Over the years, I’ve had the honor of building a career rooted in service, community revitalization, and the dream of homeownership. At one point, I was recognized as the top-selling real estate agent in Compton, CA—a milestone that affirmed my commitment to helping clients navigate one of the most important decisions of their lives.
At The Pratt Group, we specialize in working with homeowners of distressed properties who are seeking cash offers and individuals who have inherited properties they wish to offload. We also connect with buyers, both individual and corporate, who share our vision of revitalizing communities and creating spaces where families can thrive. My team and I are particularly proud of our work in listing beautifully reimagined properties. Each listing represents more than just a home—it’s an opportunity to transform neighborhoods and bring new life to areas that deserve attention and care.
Our success stems from more than just transactions; it’s about relationships. I’ve been fortunate to align myself with others who share my mentality: a deep desire to serve our communities and make homeownership a reality for more people. Providing unmatched customer service is a cornerstone of our business, and we strive to ensure every client feels supported, heard, and valued. Whether it’s helping a family sell a property with ease or guiding a buyer toward their dream home, my team and I are committed to making an impact that extends far beyond the closing table. This journey has been filled with challenges and triumphs, and I am endlessly grateful for the opportunity to lead with purpose, passion, and a heart for community transformation.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Taking risks is never easy, but I’ve always believed that there is no reward without risk. When I stepped out on faith to pursue real estate full-time, I left behind the security of a steady paycheck, knowing that self-employment offers no financial guarantees. It was a leap into the unknown, but one I felt deeply called to take. My view has always been that the bigger the risk, the bigger the reward—and that faith and perseverance are the foundation for turning uncertainty into opportunity.
While I believe in calculated risks, there are times when God places a dream or a mission in your heart that defies logic or reason. It may not make sense to others, and you may not receive the support you were hoping for, but I’ve come to understand that when God places something within us, He also equips us with the means to achieve it, as well as, divine connections. Trusting in that promise has been pivotal in my journey. It’s what pushed me to overcome the doubts, setbacks, and fears that come with building a business and taking responsibility for my own success.
Looking back, every risk I’ve taken has brought growth—personally, professionally, and spiritually. It hasn’t always been easy, but stepping out in faith has allowed me to create a career where I not only thrive but also make a meaningful impact. Real estate is more than a job for me; it’s a mission. And while the path may not always be clear, I’ve learned to trust the process, lean into God’s guidance, and stay focused on the bigger picture. Faith and perseverance are everything, and they’ve taught me that the risks worth taking are the ones that lead to transformation, fulfillment, and the realization of dreams.
