Today we’d like to introduce you to Rolando Aqui.

Hi Rolando, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Rolando Aqui first discovered his creative connection to hair through movement, spending fourteen years as a dance instructor before transitioning into the world of hairstyling. Driven by passion and a commitment to excellence, he entered the fashion industry with clear vision and ambition.

With over ten years of experience behind the chair, Rolando has trained extensively with elite Sassoon educators, mastering the craft of precision cutting. His career took a major leap when he joined the Prive Runway Team during New York Fashion Week, opening the door to ongoing work across editorial, runway, and production.

Rolando’s work has been featured by Wella Education, American Salon, Bangstyle, and SebastianWNA. In 2014, he earned first place in the Men’s Hair Cutting Competition in Las Vegas, NV. Today, in addition to being internationally published for his editorial, TV, and production work, Rolando brings his expertise to clients at his private salon located in Santa Monica.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
“Maintaining a positive outlook on growth in this industry can be challenging. It’s easy to feel discouraged when you’re not yet where you want to be in your career, but staying focused, patient, and committed to the process is what ultimately leads to real progress.”

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
“I am an educator who specializes in cutting, coloring, extensions, and styling. I focus on pushing creative boundaries to complete each look with artistic intention and precision.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Technology is quickly becoming one of the most influential factors in our industry. At this rate, we’re heading toward some of the most intense, futuristic hair shows we’ve ever seen.”
