Conversations with Mauricio Navarro

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mauricio Navarro.

Hi Mauricio, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
From all the arts that exist in the world, I chose Painting and Sculpting these are the ones that bring the best of me.
I love the process from start to finish.
I am from Mexico 🇲🇽 City I came to USA in 1986 .
I started out drawing when I was 8 years old, and now many many years later I grabbed the inspiration to start making art again. In 2003.
I suffer from anxiety and panic attacks, and painting and sculpting have helped me with that, is a great therapy. I compare this with dancing another wonderful passion of mine, every time I grab the brushes I just let them glide across the canvas to create another piece of artwork.
I often recommend painting as an amazing tool to help with any kind of mental illness.
In 2023 I had the opportunity to acquire my own art studio, and I keep experimenting with new ideas materials and techniques to improve my skills as an artist.
And now after 22years in the making, I have a significant number of artworks to share with the public.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
For me is been an absolute journey with my anxiety and panic attacks, hasn’t been easy but I am very fortunate to have an amazing family and friends to overcome this obstacle.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As an artist I am always experimenting with new techniques, every single piece of artwork that I have created is unique in its own way, often people ask me when they come to my studio if all the pieces were made by the same artist.
I not only paint but I make sculptures as well as other objects like coffee tables.
I consider myself a multimedia artist.
Every single piece that I had sold I know I made someone happy.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Seeing other people’s artwork made me a better artist, I learned what to do and what Not to do.
When I first started back in 2003 my work was not as good I was creating my own canvases just to save money but I realized that if it was me the buyer I wouldn’t want to buy a separate frame to complete the artwork.
So I started to make better choices and separate myself from others.

All my work is for sale you can contact me directly to 818-492-6818.
I can create a custom art piece for your home or business. Monaart211@yahoo.com
