Conversations with Madi Wolf

Today we’d like to introduce you to Madi Wolf.

Hi Madi, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I come from a musical family. My Grandfather is a Luthear and has built all of my guitars. I began taking guitar lessons at seven years of age and eventually became bored of singing other artists’ songs. So at age eight, I wrote my first original song and had my first experience in a recording studio.

The ball just kept rolling and I formed multiple bands. I was traveling and performing 30 minutes to an hour of original music at numerous venues, from Boston to New York, to Nashville, Tennessee. Many of which were in my hometown of Fredericksburg, Virginia. At age 13, My band “Madi Wolf and The Pack” sold out our Christmas show at The Old Silk Mill in historic Downtown Fredericksburg. My traveling became so frequent that it became apparent The City of Angels would become the place I call “home.” Writing session after writing session, show after show I became seasoned as an artist and found my sound. I’ve been dropping a lot of music since I made the move out here and am completely independent. I’ve been so humbled by the amount of streams and positive responses I’ve had. People will write me about how my songs have moved them or helped them in a time of need. It’s truly amazing, the power of music. I released my first solo studio album this year and have a new single on the way titled “The One.” I can’t wait for the world to hear it. I know I’ve been building the anticipation since early this year and the time has finally come.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Like everyone, COVID. At the beginning of 2020, my music had peaked interest with some key players in the industry. I was on my way to meet a world-famous Record Executive at the Four Seasons Hotel when I received a call on the 101 ramp that COVID had thrown us for a loop and we had to turn around. A few days later, the lockdown happened and we had to evolve in this new world that has changed everything and everyone.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I write and produce music, I am a multi-instrumentalist, I sing and am known for my vocal tone. All of this has landed me my first Gold/Platinum Record and Juno Award nomination as a writer. I am very involved in every aspect of my career down to the cover art design for my music.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Genuine friendships and reliability. Everyone on my team is integrity based. We pride ourselves on being where we’re supposed to be when we say we are and delivering. As far as social media networking, don’t be too prideful about being the first to reach out and don’t be too arrogant not to respond. We all need each other in this world to be who we are and further the train on the tracks.
