Conversations with Kathleen O’Heron

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kathleen O’Heron

Hi Kathleen, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi, I’m Kat—born and raised in Los Angeles. I started my social media account a few years ago with the intention of inspiring myself, and others, to be “somewhere” at all times. Whether that’s trying new things, uncovering hidden gems, or solo traveling the world, my goal was to create a space where adventure and discovery are always within reach. It’s amazing to think that something as simple as changing my Instagram handle could manifest a life full of exploration and zest. Being ‘Somewhere With Kat’ has truly become a reflection of my current life chapter and a real-life vision board that captures the essence of this journey.

Since launching this account, I’ve had the opportunity to connect with fellow solo female travelers, meet up with them in their cities, and explore new places like never before. I’ve also enjoyed reviewing hotel stays and rediscovering parts of my own city, documenting and sharing those finds along the way.

Over the past year, I’ve realized how much I love being a resource for others. Hearing that someone has created a lasting memory or discovered something special thanks to a recommendation from my page has become one of my greatest joys.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Most days, I’m navigating the balance between pursuing my dream of traveling, creating content, and excelling in my corporate job. It’s not always easy, but I make it work because it’s important for me to have a career that supports my passions, while also allowing me to grow my skill set. After freelancing full-time for a while, I realized how much I value the routine, accountability, and stability that a 9-5 provides. It’s given me the structure I need, and, as a graphic designer, it’s also allowed me to continue honing my craft. The skills I’m developing in my career have become invaluable in making my content creation even more successful.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
By trade, I’m a graphic designer with nearly a decade of experience in the beauty and fashion industry. But online, I’ve branded myself as a curator of experiences.

I’m probably best known for my solo travel vlogs and my frequent trips to Erewhon! What I’m most proud of, however, is using my platform to connect with a global community of travelers and meet them in person to create lasting memories together. Over time, I’ve realized that you don’t need a huge following to feel seen; the real blessing is seeing how much others value the content you create. What sets me apart is my ability to show others how to truly immerse themselves in new experiences, while celebrating the fun and beauty in even the small, everyday moments.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
Without a doubt, my parents have been my biggest supporters. They’ve always encouraged my wildest dreams, hyped me up, and took me and my siblings on family trips growing up. I’ve always appreciated how much they’ve emphasized the importance of travel and made an effort to include my friends on trips, so we could explore and enjoy the world together. Their example has truly opened my eyes to the power of giving back meaningful experiences to others—especially those who may not have had the same opportunities growing up. It’s all about paying it forward and embracing gratitude.
