Conversations with Joza.ink Joza.ink

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joza.ink Joza.ink

Hi Joza.ink, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My journey into tattooing began with a spark of creativity at a young age, drawing inspiration from my surroundings and the culture I grew up in—Neos Kosmos, Athens. I was always captivated by art, starting with childhood paintings and DIY projects, like turning my sister’s desire to look like Ariel into an artistic moment. This playful early creation laid the foundation for my artistic future.

While I initially pursued a career as a dentist technician, I soon realized that the corporate world wasn’t where I belonged. I followed my true calling and transferred to the Fine Arts School of Florina, where my exploration of different mediums, including photography and painting, eventually led me to tattoos. My first tattoo experience was pivotal, and it became the spark that ignited my career.

Over the years, I traveled the world, tattooing in countries like Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, England, Austria, Malta, Denmark, Switzerland, and more. My work was the ticket that allowed me to experience diverse cultures, styles, architecture, and art, all while expanding my portfolio. Now, based in Los Angeles, I’ve brought my unique blend of abstraction and vibrant color to the tattoo scene. Every piece I create is not just ink on skin, but a manifestation of trust, shared stories, and the ongoing evolution of my artistic identity.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s been anything but smooth, but that’s part of the journey. There have been countless challenges—from navigating the complexities of the tattoo world to constantly adapting to new environments while traveling.

One major hurdle was finding my artistic voice. Early on, there was pressure to conform to trends, but I realized that true growth came from embracing my own style, even if it wasn’t mainstream. This journey of self-discovery was complicated by the constant movement; switching cities and countries every week, as I did at one point, was both thrilling and exhausting.

But it was these challenges that allowed me to refine my art and my philosophy. Learning to trust my instincts, and the clients who believed in me, made all the struggles worthwhile. Today, each challenge is a stepping stone in my evolution as an artist.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in creating tattoos that blend abstraction with organic, brushstroke-like marks and vibrant colors. My work is often described as deeply personal and emotional—it’s not just about aesthetics, but about creating a bond between the person and the design.

What sets me apart is my approach to freehand tattoos, where the design isn’t merely drawn beforehand but evolves in real-time as I work. Each piece is a one-of-a-kind creation that speaks to the body it’s on. My motto, “Give me trust, give you scratch,” encapsulates this collaborative process—each tattoo is a conversation, a shared creation.

I’m most proud of the trust I’ve built with my clients. Many have traveled across continents to work with me, and this connection is what truly makes my work meaningful. To me, tattoos are an exchange, a mutual transformation. It’s not just about marking the skin; it’s about marking the soul.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up in Athens, I was a curious and adventurous kid. I wasn’t just drawn to traditional forms of art; I had a hands-on approach to creativity. I was building furniture at age 5 and spending my time skateboarding and BMXing around the city. The combination of Athens’ urban landscape and its proximity to the sea fueled my passions—whether it was outdoor activities or exploring street art.

I wasn’t one to sit still. I wanted to create things, express myself, and find new ways to interact with the world around me. That restlessness and curiosity have stayed with me, driving my constant evolution as an artist and a person. It’s this combination of creative exploration and passion for adventure that I carry into my work today.
