Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaeda Stone
Hi Jaeda, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story starts before I was even born! Crazy, I know! My mother never would have thought her dream of me being tall, lanky, and uncoordinated gave her the idea to put me in a dance class. Little did she know my little hobby would become very expensive VERY fast! Recreational from ages 3 to 8 but once competition was available to me at age 9 there was no going back. I never thought this would become my career, but 7 years of conventions/competitions and a BFA in Performing arts with a focus in Dance theatre, here we are! I couldn’t have done it without my family’s support. The countless hours waiting for me at the studio, and countless payments, My amazing mother and grandmother have been my biggest supporters and loudest audience members! It wasn’t just dance. My mother helped me chase my dreams of acting, singing, modeling, and so much more. It’s crazy to think that without that one little dream my mom had, I wouldn’t be doing what I love every day!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The performance industry is not without its struggles. Professional or not, it’s hard to maintain motivation and drive. Even with the fullest heart and love of the arts, the most talented artists have their doubts about if they will succeed. I have no shame in saying I have wanted to quite a multitude of times throughout my time. I danced with the ABT Gillespie school for 3.5 years and the struggles of the ballet world hit me hard every day and crushed my dreams and desires to be a ballerina. I thought all my training and sacrifices were wasted so why keep going? I pulled myself together with the help of my family and decided to go back to competitive dance. I didn’t love ballet, I loved the idea of it, but being there showed me what I was truly missing and what my heart truly wanted.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
OH what do I do? I think the question better answered is what DON’T I do! I love dipping my toes into everything. Dancing, Singing, Acting, Modelling, Voice-Over, Choreography, and more! I do specialize in dancing, even got a degree in it! I think dancing will forever be my top specialty but I will never put myself in a box. I would love to be known for my addition to all the artistic worlds I put my time and efforts into. I get asked all the time, “What do you do?” It’s hard not going into extreme detail about every avenue I work in but to sum it up I put my efforts and talent towards the performing arts with the dreams of entertaining the world and inspiring others to never give up on their dreams!
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I’ve always wanted to be the person who had the power and position to inspire and motivate those who have no representation in their respective art. I never saw any tall mixed-ethic female dancers highlighted and prominent in the industry. It’s time every young one is given the chance to see themselves in someone who looks like them to show they have a chance to succeed in their field. I can’t wait for the day all the teachers who said “Someone like me, who looked like me, could never make it” see that I can and DID make it. If there isn’t a path for you, pick up the tools and make it yourself!
