Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Tolbert Sr..
Hi Eric, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started my company in March of 2019 after trying to clean out my garage. I called a few junk removal companies and the quotes they were giving me was outrageous for what little a had to remove. So I said to myself with those kind of prices I can purchase my own trailer and do it myself. So I purchased a trailer and the idea came to me to just start my own junk removal company.
The name originates from the old television show Dukes of Hazard. It was a guy by the of JD and they called him Boss Hog. So I took the name and twisted it into Mr. Boss Haul and the name stuck! I also thought of my logo and that’s the history of how I started Mr Boss Haul LLC.
I wanted to create a company to set myself aside from any other junk removal company since it’s so saturated. So I offer junk removal services, moving services, pickup and delivery and also furniture rearrangement services. I come in contact with a lot of elderly people who need furniture moved from one room to another or from the main floor to the basement and vice versa.
I am overly blessed with tons of happy customers and continue to give them great customer service and support in all their moving needs.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s been pretty smooth for me. Only obstacles I had is having a consistent employee that love to work and make great pay! I now have a great team, thank God!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I mentioned that I had to set my business apart from any other junk removal company since this field of work is so saturated. So I offer more services other than junk removal.
I’m most proud of having a company that is always needed for one of the services I provide. Also being featured in the Golfer’s Magazine back in 2020 was an accomplishment.
I managed my company by doing all payroll, bookings, and any clerical work that it intel. I speak to all my clients personally and make them feel more comfortable and confident in who they’re hiring to do the job.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Wanting to be the best in what you do it definitely requires to take some risks. At first I only had an open trailer to do all my pickup, deliveries and moving but took a risk in purchasing a large enclosed trailer just to better accommodate my customers due to any weather conditions.
