Conversations with David Rodriguez

Today we’d like to introduce you to David Rodriguez

Hi David, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Started with my God given talent and love for art ,such as drawing , sketching , painting (all kinds)& my love/inspiration in fashion growing up . Eventually my love for art led me to trying hairstyling on my sister , then friends and then leaned into experimenting with Makeup . It all came to so organically and naturally that faces and hair were like canvases. What started out as a hobby while attending the fashion institute of design and merchandise to major in fashion design . My passion grew more for the beauty industry. I went thru working and freelancing for several well known and prestigious cosmetic lines such as MAC , Shu Uemura , NARS & countless others . While working and hustling to establish myself as a working makeup artist and hairstylist in LA , Hollywood and all of California and abroad . Social media also helped my self advertising and marketing and promotion of what I was able to do . Through social media and my network through colleagues and attending events etc . It also helped me work with and collab with celebrities along the way such as Christina Milian , Kat Graham, Latto , Erika Jayne, Cassie and number of others . Ive been really humble through my progress and continue to evolve and hope to only inspire and make people feel beautiful inside and out . I think god gave me one task that I’ve never went to cosmotology or hair school for and I just want to keep doing what I love till I physically can’t anymore . I’m just glad and blessed to say I get to wake up every morning to do what love so deeply without any regrets or remorse .

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s definitely not been a smooth road . Losing my mom to stage 4 breast cancer back in 2003 was probably the bigges hurdle . I think without challenges tho or obstacles along the way it wouldn’t have made me as strong or
As Knowledgeable of an artist I am today . Being of Latin decent and a gay man the struggle to make it to the top isn’t always as easy as it seems . There will always be people in the industry who are out to sabotage you in on e way shape or form . But I feel what’s made it easier for me to push thru is blocking the noise and following or list to what everyone is saying or doing .

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’d say I specialize in all things fashion /beauty , from fashion editorials to red carpets for celebrities to photo shoots and campaigns for big ecomm brands such as fashion nova .com , pretty little thing.com , boohoo.com etc . What I’m most proud of is being influential and inspiring. None of it is a competition there’s more meaning behind why I do because I have such a love for it . And what I’d say sets me apart from others
Is I’m more of an introvert and let my work speak for itself

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I’d say my quality is that only thrive to give my clients the best in quality of work I deliver . I work hard and always make sure whoever I work with is left with the best impression of what I do
