Conversations with Colin K. Bass

Today we’d like to introduce you to Colin K. Bass.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I grew up obsessed with super heroes, comic books, anime, video games, etc. I did some theater camp and some plays, but never thought anything of it. Then I went down the sports path and hid my love for all things “nerdy”. Then when I was in college, I started working for a comic book website which eventually took me down the path of conventions and filmmaking.

Now, I am the Marketing Director for multiple Anime Conventions on the West Coast and a writer, actor and producer for Anime Fire. We make original content and fan films and I also have participated in film festivals.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It was difficult finding the right people to work with. You need to find the people that believe in your vision and WANT to be there.

Also, I didn’t even know what I wanted to do. I just knew I wanted to create!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I write, act and produce multiple web series. Some original, but I’m mostly known for our fan series. “Reverse Flash: Origins”, “Power Rangers: Shattered Past” and “Dragon Ball: Son of Trunks”.

There have also been a lot of fun one off episodes with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Digimon and a fight series called “Character Select”.

What’s next?
I’m very excited to wrap up “Dragon Ball: Son of Trunks” and “Power Rangers: Shattered Past”! Then, I’ll be moving onto my next big idea!

It’s always fun to start something new, but also nervewracking because you don’t know how the audience will like it.
