Conversations with Christian Ramone

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christian Ramone.

Hi Christian, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hi,

My name is Christian. Our community recently lost something that meant a lot to us—Weddington Golf and Tennis, which was the only public golf course serving Sherman Oaks, Studio City, Toluca Lake, and North Hollywood.

It wasn’t just a place to play. It was where people brought their kids, where friends met up, and where many of us first learned the game. It felt like one of the few true community spaces we had left in the area.

That space is now gone, replaced by a private facility for Harvard-Westlake School. It happened quickly, and a lot of people in the neighborhood are still feeling that loss.

Since then, I’ve been trying to bring back a small piece of Weddington for the community. I always thought giving back would mean creating jobs or helping in other ways, but I’ve realized this is my way of doing it—trying to recreate even a small part of what that place meant to so many people.

I know nothing will ever replace Weddington, but I’m hopeful I can help fill even a small part of the void it left behind.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been the smoothest road. I never realized how much goes into owning a small business—the constant thinking, worrying, and stress about what comes next.

This is all new to me, and I’ve learned a lot along the way. Of course, I wish it were easier, but at the same time, it’s been a really meaningful experience. I’ve met so many great people and built relationships I wouldn’t have had otherwise.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I own and operate The Valley Golf, an indoor golf simulator facility in Sherman Oaks. I also teach lessons and am currently part of the PGA of America program, working toward becoming a PGA professional.

My focus is on instruction and creating a space where people feel comfortable learning and enjoying the game. I work with all skill levels, but especially enjoy helping newer players and younger golfers build confidence and have fun with golf.

I wouldn’t say I’m known for anything specific yet, other than opening The Valley Golf. What I am most proud of is creating something that brings people together again after we lost Weddington. That was really the driving force behind all of this.

What sets me apart is the reason I started. I didn’t go into this to get rich—I did it to give back to the community. I wanted to create a place where people could reconnect with the game, spend time together, and feel a sense of community again. Everything I do with The Valley Golf is centered around that.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I have never given that much thought. Sherman Oaks (and The Valley) have always been my home. I don’t think there’s anything I would change about the city I live in.
