Today we’d like to introduce you to Chesca Musica
Chesca, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Thank you for this interview! I have always had a passion for writing and singing songs in both English and Spanish since I was a young girl. I always loved listening to songs in both languages on the radio and dissecting the meaning of each song. Music has definitely been a significant part of my life and it is something I truly appreciate on a daily basis. The last seven years, I have recorded five studio albums and have released them independently. I have learned so much about myself in the process and am grateful for each experience. I write songs to make better sense of the world we all live in. I usually write my songs in the morning, it definitely is my medicine to a better day.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. There have been moments during this journey that I have wanted to give up but then I remember why I started. I began this journey because writing and singing songs is a part of who I am. There would be no Chesca Musica without the love I have for music. It has saved me in so many ways and that’s enough for me to want to continue in this industry. My song, “Web of Doubts”, talks about the many doubts I have faced being in the music industry. It explores the very theme of being a female in a male dominated industry and not feeling included. My wish for this industry is to see more inclusion within every genre of music and equal compensation. The reality of this industry is a lot different than what it presents itself as on television and film. However, I believe change is coming soon.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I write and sing pop songs in English and Spanish. I definitely believe life is more fun with melodies. I have written songs about my experience with vertigo, sadness, heartbreak and the realities of being a female in the music industry. I have performed my songs in both New York City and Los Angeles in venues such as Rockwood Music Hall, Bowery Electric, Pianos, Hotel Café and the London in West Hollywood. My songs have been played at parades, fashion shows, clothing stores, restaurants, nightclubs and have been included on Amazon and Spotify editorial playlists. I am proud of every moment of this journey but I think I am most proud of myself for not giving up on my dreams despite the many obstacles and challenges that have come my way.
What are your plans for the future?
My plans for the future is to continue writing songs in both English and Spanish. I hope to win a Grammy for both my English and Spanish songs and write songs for film, television and Broadway. I am currently writing a script for television and film so I am excited to enter the television and film industry as well. I have so many stories to tell so that’s definitely an avenue I am excited to explore further. Thank you for this interview, I hope everyone is doing well! Make sure to listen to my new album, HERSTORIA: MY SONGS ARE MIS BEBES – now available on all streaming platforms. Gracias!
