Conversations with Artem Koro

Today we’d like to introduce you to Artem Koro.

Artem, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Basically, I start my journey into the world of tattooing around almost eight years ago. I used to live in Spain /Ibiza, my ex-girlfriend she was from there, and she actually the one who helps me to find myself back in a day.

We used to live on this magic island (Ibiza). And we tried to make some money for a living, she used to make a photography about tattoos in Ibiza, and I used to love tattoos from an early age. Around the age of 14, I get my first tattoo, but at that moment, I never thought that I can be a tattoo artist who travels around the world, perform on high level, work with the best artist around the globe, and win first places, on big tattoo events, like New York, Holland, Slovakia, etc.

I remember that day when my ex-girlfriend told me you should try making tattoos, I didn’t believe in myself. Because I never drew in my life, and I used to work on a random job, but what can happen when one person believes in your more that everything, and pushing you, it makes all the difference!

I remember when we use to live on this amazing island, and we was short of money. At some point in time, and we tried to move to different cities in Spain, to make some money. But eventually, our love story, comes to the end, because of lack of money, and I found myself on the street, somewhere around the North of Spain, without food, cash, and even a battery for the phone, the night was cold there, I slept on some bench, but one thing warmed my heart, that I found what I love the most and it was tattooing!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Like is said before, for me it was not easy at all, I need to get through different situations in life that are not so fun, in one hand, but in another hand I really enjoyed that moments, and I never forget them.

I remember when I am back to Israel, nobody wants to take me for an apprenticeship, no one really cares, and I think this is why I push myself with some anger inside me to proof everyone one that Iam gonna be on top of the hill!!

And this is what motivated me the most, at that specifically moment, almost everyone makes some. Laugh about me, that I am. Not gonna make it! I reached everything by myself, the only person who believes in me afterward it’s my wife, Shiran and of course my mom!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
So I am a professional artist that works on the road for the last seven years. I constantly move from cities to different countries every time I learn something new. People know me and recognize me around the world because of my style that I call Graphic Avant Grade. It’s a mix of abstract with graphic realism.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Propel will always try to put you down !!! That you not gonna succeed! Don’t listen to them, listen only to your self believe in what you doing, if you love what you do, you will reach everything you want in life!
