Conversations with the Inspiring Jenny Lliana Diaz

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenny Lliana Diaz.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Although I was born in Los Angeles from both immigrant parents, I would say that I am an interesting mixture. I was born in Los Angeles but when I was only three years old, my parents decided to move back to El Salvador, which is where my family is from. I grew up in El Salvador until I reached the age of 17. At that age, I decided to move back to Los Angeles by myself to continue my higher education at the university. Since I moved back to Los Angeles, a lot has happened. Moving to a different country has definitely taught me a lot, especially the struggles of learning a new language and becoming financially independent at such an early age. I earned my bachelor’s degree in accounting and I am proud to say that I landed an amazing job at one of the most prestigious accounting firms in the world. However, working in that field made me realize it was not my passion, so I left. I wanted to work on something that made me happy. So, I now work in two completely different fields, mortgage loans, and social media. Working in mortgage loans gives me the freedom to work at my own time, which has allowed me to also work on my social media channels. I spend a lot of my time in my social media channels such as Instagram and YouTube sharing makeup and fashion advice. Creating content for my social media channels has allowed me to explore my creativity which is a part of me I didn’t know I had before. I love the process of creating content from the moment that I get an idea until the moment a project is finished. That’s honestly my passion, as I love helping other women feel beautiful by teaching them how to use makeup to enhance their own beauty. Social media has opened up many opportunities as I have been able to work with a few makeup brands so far. I have been able to work with a few makeup brands. Additionally, I love connecting with my followers as they often reach out to me for beauty advice.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it definitely has not been easy. I think the language was a huge struggle at the beginning but just like everything in life, you have to learn in order to be successful. You have to put the time and effort to learn new skills. I was not taught how to create and edit videos, but I researched and taught myself. I would say to anyone starting a new journey, do your research, educate yourself in whatever field/industry is it that you want to be successful in. Also, surround yourself with people that share the same beliefs as you. Don’t feel afraid to ask for help, especially look for those who have become successful in doing what you are trying to do. Lastly, don’t feel discouraged if something does not work out the way you expected at first, continue trying, as persistence is the key.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I create makeup tutorials and talk about fashion in both my Instagram and YouTube channels. I am very proud of my accomplishments so far. When I set a goal, I work hard until I reach it. You are the driver of your destiny. It’s up to you how far you want to go in life.

Who do you look up to? How have they inspired you?
I have a deep admiration for women who have become entrepreneurs. People that take their passions and make a living from it. They inspire me because I want to have my own business in the near future.
