Conversations with Danny Brown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danny Brown.

Hi Danny, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’m just a Jersey girl with big dreams.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
You have to learn to take a lot of rejection. If you don’t develop a thick skin then unfortunately I don’t think many people will last. Acting takes time. You have to wait out the storm of massive no’s until you get to one yes, but in the end it’s worth it. That was a difficult pill to swallow at first. There were many tears, MANY. And honestly, I’m not even where I want to be in my career yet but patience is truly a virtue.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’ve always been an entertainer. When I was little, I would sing for my family and put on fashion shows in our living room. But it wasn’t until I was 13 and auditioned for my school’s production of “Kiss Me Kate” that I realized that acting was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. When I stood on stage with the heat of the lights on my face, butterflies in my stomach, and a crumpled up piece of paper in my pocket (just in case I forgot my lines) I knew I found my home. Since then, I graduated from Marymount Manhattan College in New York City with a B.F.A. in Acting. In 2015 I made the leap and moved to Los Angeles to pursue my dream of being in TV and film. That being said, I had absolutely no television or film experience, coming from theater, so I started off doing background work which taught me SO much. I’ve now been lucky enough to have co-star and guest star roles in TV shows such as “Blackish” and “Mom”. I love that I get to do what I love doing. I feel very blessed.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I hate watching myself act. It’s so funny because I’m really confident in my acting abilities but I can’t watch myself on a tv screen, haha.
