Today we’d like to introduce you to Veronica Hinojosa-Stang.
Hi Veronica, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I come from the southern skies, where the Andes cradle the heart of Peru — a land of colors, music, and stories woven through generations of women who nurture with wisdom and grace. It is there, among the warmth of family and the rhythm of life, that my journey began.
From an early age, I learned that care is an art — one expressed through patience, tenderness, and devotion. After earning my Bachelor’s degree in Education in Peru, life carried me across borders and cultures, each experience deepening my understanding of the human heart.
When I arrived in the United States in 2000, I didn’t know anyone. I started from the ground up, guided only by faith, purpose, and a deep love for my son. I am a single mother of my one and only child, and this journey has shown me that with love, dedication, and faith, anything is possible. My college days were a beautiful balancing act — I attended my classes with my infant son by my side, breastfeeding him between lectures. I was the only student on campus who carried books, dreams and diapers — and that experience became the foundation of my strength. It taught me that motherhood is not a limitation; it’s a source of unstoppable power.
That experience shaped who I am today. Because I am a mother myself, I can deeply understand the emotions, fears, and transformations every woman faces after giving birth. It was natural for me to want to support and care for other mothers, to give them what I once wished someone had given me — understanding, guidance, and rest.
I didn’t yet know that my purpose was waiting for me in the quiet, sacred hours of the night — in the soft breaths of newborns and the gentle strength of mothers finding their way. My path revealed itself when I was hired by a high-profile family, and I met a professional who introduced me to the world of doulas. That encounter changed my life — it was as if my calling had finally found its name. I began my journey as a Birth Doula, but soon discovered that my true passion lived in the postpartum world — in those tender nights when mothers and babies need the most care, guidance, and love.
From that moment onward, every step I took was guided by the desire to transform the postpartum experience for families.
That was more than 25 years ago. Since then, I have had the honor of guiding over a thousand families and mentoring generations of doulas, many of them from my own Latina community.
For me, this work is not just about caring for babies — it’s about transforming lives. I have witnessed mothers rise from uncertainty to empowerment, families bloom with confidence, and women rediscover their sense of purpose and pride.
What I do is more than a profession — it’s a devotion, a calling born from love and carried through every gentle night, every tear soothed, and every new beginning. It lives in the nights when mothers and babies need the most care, guidance, and love.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road — but it has been a journey of faith, courage, and transformation. When I first arrived in the United States, I didn’t know a single person. I came alone, as a single mother, with no mentor and no clear path ahead. I had to build everything from the ground up — guided only by my faith in God and my determination to create a better life for my son.
There were times when I felt lost, when I had no one to ask for help, and when the nights felt long and uncertain. But every challenge became a lesson. Every closed door strengthened my perseverance. I worked hard to build not only my career but also a safe and loving nest where my son could one day thrive.
Being an immigrant woman brought its own challenges. Representation for Latinas in the doula and postpartum world was scarce, and I had to prove that compassion, professionalism, and education transcend language and culture. I had to show that a Latina woman could stand strong, respected, and confident in a profession that often overlooked our voices.
Perhaps that’s why I became a mentor myself — because I didn’t want others to face the same struggles alone. Many training programs focus only on reading and theory, but my approach is hands-on, heart-centered, and rooted in real practice. I teach doulas the art of resolving situations, nurturing with empathy, and transforming uncertainty into confidence.
Those struggles — being an immigrant, a single mother, and a woman paving her own way — shaped me. They taught me resilience, compassion, and humility. And they gave me the purpose I live by today: to empower others, especially Latina doulas, to rise, to believe in themselves, and to transform lives with love.
It is this mission that gave birth to BabyNurse and Doula Services — a place where families are supported, educated, and empowered through every stage of postpartum and newborn care.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Baby Nurse and Doula Services is more than a company — it is the reflection of my heart, my passion, and my life’s mission. I created it to support families through one of life’s most sacred journeys: welcoming a newborn and navigating the transformative days that follow.
What sets us apart is a combination of dedication, knowledge, and unwavering commitment. I am a problem solver by nature, a lifelong learner, and someone who never accepts ‘no’ when it comes to helping parents and babies thrive. Responsibility, loyalty, and compassion guide every interaction, every night spent caring, teaching, and supporting.
Over the past 25 years, I have had the honor of supporting over a thousand families and mentoring generations of doulas, particularly women in the Latina community, helping them discover their professional path and embrace their purpose. I am proud to be recognized among the pioneers in the doula community in Los Angeles, but what fills my heart most are the transformations I witness — a mother discovering her confidence, a baby thriving in love, or a new doula stepping into her calling with pride and purpose.
My work spans a wide range of specialized care: I guide families through postpartum recovery, newborn care, and infant sleep conditioning as a Baby Sleep Coach; provide breastfeeding and lactation education; support families as a NICU doula or with high-needs babies; and mentor doulas through hands-on, transformative training programs. Every service is delivered with compassion, expertise, and a deep commitment to empowering parents, tailored to the unique needs of each family.
Families who welcome me into their homes receive more than care — they receive guidance, empowerment, and peace of mind. I integrate myself fully into the family, even including pets in the journey. I remember my first family, with baby Cyrus, baby August, and their cat, Ramses. As the mother fed the babies, Ramses would come looking for comfort and attention, and I would include him in the care routine. This story may seem small, but it reflects my philosophy: when families invite me into their home, they are not just hiring a doula — they are welcoming a mentor, a guide, a coach, and a friend who genuinely cares for every member of the household.
My brand is built on trust, education, and love. At Baby Nurse and Doula Services, every night, every moment, and every touch carries purpose, heart, and devotion — nurturing families, empowering parents, and creating a foundation of care and confidence that will last a lifetime
What are your plans for the future?
My plans for the future are guided by a simple passion: to keep learning, growing, and serving families with love and dedication. I have trainings ahead — including a retreat in Indonesia this April 2026— because studying and expanding my knowledge has always been a driving force in my life.
Above all, I look forward to continuing to care for mothers and babies, keeping my heart fully in this chapter of my professional journey. I want to nurture, guide, and empower families with the same devotion and compassion that has shaped my career for over two decades.
I am also exploring innovative ways to train the next generation of doulas. I am planning virtual, hands-on training programs — a new approach where trainees work in pairs to practice and learn from each other, even from a distance. This is a more interactive, meaningful way to teach, ensuring that even in a virtual setting, doulas gain real, practical experience and confidence.
For me, the future is about love, learning, and transformation — for the families I serve, the doulas I mentor, and the community I am privileged to be part of. Every step forward is a step deeper into the heart of this work, and I am excited to continue walking this path with dedication, joy, and purpose
