Paul, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey into the world of the modeling and fashion industry began with a chance encounter that would propel me to the highest echelons of the Fashion and Modeling industries. As a senior at the University of Santa Barbara, destiny took a fateful turn when I found myself at the Beverly Hills Hotel’s Polo lounge. It was there that I crossed paths with a man whose ties to the New York underworld would forever alter the course of my life.

In a twist of fate, that life-changing day saw me driving into the Beverly Hills Hotel in my humble, broken-down VW, only to drive out in a brand new Ferrari 308 GTS just six months later. The allure of this world was irresistible, and I soon found myself in New York, tasked with the exciting mission of opening a modeling agency for this enigmatic figure.

My journey began with the creation of my first model, and in that moment, I fell head over heels in love with the intoxicating feeling of making someone’s dreams come true. However, my desire to break free from the agency’s hold that I had created for this man was met with resistance. But once again, destiny intervened when the very man who had orchestrated my entry into this world found himself entangled in a bitter divorce battle, forcing him to withdraw his financial support.

In the blink of an eye, I transitioned from a life of running a modeling agency in NYC, complete with bodyguards, a limo, a Ferrari, and overflowing cash, to the gritty reality of selling pot on street corners just to survive.

Undeterred by this adversity, I turned to my grandfather, borrowing $10,000, with a resolute vow to chart my own path, to do things the right way, and above all, to protect the young women I represented. This mission took on a profound significance as my little sister, battling a horrible case of cancer, shared the same age as most of my models. Her strength & courage fueled my determination, igniting a fire within me that would illuminate my path to become the most powerful modeling agent in the world!

With unwavering determination, I created my first star, and then another, and another, until my agency boasted names like Stephanie Seymour, Naomi Campbell, Carre’ Otis, Monica Bellucci, Carla Bruni, Kimora Lee Simmons, Brooke Burke and many other famous faces. In just a few short years after that fateful investment from my grandfather, I ascended to become one of the most influential and powerful modeling agents in the world. Which also led me to hosting an award-winning TV series on the CW network titled “remodeled” which is still airing on Amazon Prime, and a hit International TV series titled “I can make you a Supermodel” which airs in many countries around the world today.

I became known as a tenacious, unwavering force in the industry, earning the moniker of a “Pit Bull” modeling agent, securing the highest fees for my iconic clients, and protecting them from the often ruthless elements that the modeling world could attract.

In the end, I had discovered my true calling—the art of turning other people’s dreams into reality. It was an addiction, a relentless pursuit of excellence, and a testament to the enduring power of ambition and resilience.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Running my own modeling agency was a journey marked by formidable challenges, each of which tested the very core of my determination to become the most powerful modeling agent in the world! The first hurdle I faced was breaking free from the clutches of the individual for whom I had initially opened an agency for. It was a very scary night when I returned to my hotel room and found myself confronted by five imposing bodyguards, the butt of a gun reminding me of my perilous situation. They delivered a chilling ultimatum: “You are not leaving this agency, period.” Overcoming this situation which started my career and journey into the modeling industry, and then trying to gain my autonomy became my first arduous battle.

The subsequent challenge was a relentless quest to win over the top editors of the most influential fashion magazines, renowned designers, and esteemed photographers. In order to befriend the industry giants, I needed to convince them to believe in my “taste” in selecting new faces so I could discover, develop & launch new models & create them into STARS!

The current top modeling agencies of that time (in the 80’s & 90’s) had seemingly insurmountable advantages—millions of dollars, expansive offices, formidable teams of influential agents with vast networks, and the backing of powerful public relations firms. In stark contrast, I had started my agency with a mere $10,000 in the confines of my studio apartment, armed with one model & just me & my mom, who did my accounting!

I adopted a simple strategy: I would “outwork” my competitors. My days began at 4:00 am and often extended well past midnight, tirelessly forging connections and crafting opportunities for my models. This relentless work ethic became my hallmark.

Yet, there was a bittersweet aspect & challenge to my journey. Time and again, I would nurture and elevate a star, only to watch them depart for other more famous agencies. Each instance was painful, a reminder of the transient nature of loyalty in a competitive industry. However, a universal law emerged from these experiences—a law that transcended the modeling world. When someone extends kindness, care, protection, and unwavering support, it is imperative not to sever the bonds of love and energy that sustain that connection. The consequence of such betrayal is unequivocal: “DARKNESS.” It serves as a stark reminder of the profound impact of trust and loyalty in an industry that often tests the limits of both.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
My advice for aspiring models and those aiming for a career as modeling agent;

Invest in Knowledge: In all businesses – knowledge is power. Take the time to educate yourself as thoroughly as possible about the industry. Take my online interactive course! Have your parents take my course! Learn everything there is to know about our industry before jumping in. Know who are the true power players, the decision-makers, the top agencies, the agencies to stay away from, and the dangers of the modeling industry!

Seek Guidance from Proven Experts: In an industry that can be challenging to navigate, it’s crucial to seek advice and mentorship from individuals with a proven track record of creating stars and achieving success. Avoid becoming a “guinea pig” and wasting valuable time and opportunities on untested strategies or advice. Learn from those who have walked the path before you and have a TRUE history of success.

For aspiring modeling & Influencer agents! Find and learn from someone who has created stars. Period. Not once, not two times, but many stars! If someone has created many stars, then shut up and just listen & learn!
