Hi Matt, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My earliest memory of my grandfather was him building homes. I would visit the work site with my Dad who would also help him. As a young kid it fascinated me how the simple wood framing of a house would be the basis something a family would later live in.
When my grandfather passed on, my Dad took on the main mentor for me and eventually trained me on basic construction as a teenager.
I’ve loved being on construction sites for as long as I can remember, seeing how the pieces come together.
The process of problem solving is what I’ve carried forward and I still to this day discuss many of the challenges that come up on my work projects with my Dad.
I started up mainly as a carpenter and then progressed into general construction where from start to finish I manage the whole process.
There’s something very rewarding about meeting with customers and understanding their vision and creating it for them.
Working with people around the Los Angeles area provides a lot of diverse projects in many styles that keeps my job interesting.
As I General Contractor, I enjoy the process of managing each process of a customer project and working with my team.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Of course it hasn’t been a smooth ride. The construction process is a steep learning curve with every customer job being unique. Sometimes there’s a difference between what can be delivered realistically and still keep the customer happy. It’s through those discussions and my responsibility to find creative ways to deliver an end result that’s going to meet high construction standards and finishing the project making the customer happy.
If anyone has ever experienced a construction project, there’s a lot of changes along the way that include finishes and sometimes even design. I encourage my customers to be part of the process as ultimately it’s their vision and my team’s experience.
We’ve been impressed with Bartona Builders, Inc., but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Thanks for asking about Bartona Builders, Inc.—I’m thrilled to share what we’re all about. We’re a family-run general contracting business out of Southern California. We serve all of Los Angeles County, turning homes into spaces that feel fresh, functional, and totally LA. We strive to bring those properties back to life with the client’s vision of what they want.
What do we do? We’re all about residential remodeling and custom builds. Our main focus is kitchen and bathroom makeovers— we use the clients vision as a guide with our in-house design team to create a new living space that blends with the rest of the home. The customer leads the vision and we love to provide lots of choices and support to ensure they are happy with the end product. There are so many choices in a construction project, and we like to make the process stress free for the customer by providing solutions with practical designs and end finishes. Plus, we do room additions, custom carpentry, anything that makes a homework better for the people living in it.
What sets us apart? Honestly, it’s getting it right for our clients. Our clients love that we keep job sites clean at the end of each day, stick to timelines, and keep them in communication on progress. Most of our work comes from repeat customers or referrals, which tells you we’re doing something right. Oh, and we keep everything in-house with our local crew, so you’re not dealing with a middleman or inflated costs.

How do you define success?
Referrals! Referrals are one of our measuring tools. We’ve never had to lean on lead services or ads to reach new clients. The clients have been doing it for us. That means that we have made them happy enough to tell their close friends and family to give us a call with something as important as their home.
The overall success is making for us is seeing our customers happy! When we see happy customers it inspires our entire team on so many levels. We feel a great sense of accomplishment when we receive text messages, thank you cards and feedback.
