Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Welch.
Hi Jordan, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Well to start, I grew up in Georgia in a fairly small town on the Westside of Atlanta. I was always into the design of some sort whether it was fashion, interior, graphics, etc… I am talented in the arts, also (violin, viola, cello, clarinet, piano, acoustic guitar and amazing vocal ability). There was an obvious passion there for creation and self-expression but growing up, it was difficult for me to show my really creative side. I struggled in sports or anything requiring any active labor. I didn’t realize my passion for graphic design specifically until a few years ago when I was faced with a few challenges as a brand-new entrepreneur. I was laid off from my job with a WHOLE household of responsibilities. I was relying on the work from my bare hands and hard labor to pay my bills and get me by. After seeing that my bills were getting paid with my work, I knew that was something I needed to market and build off of. Solidified my business in 2021. That brings us to where we are today with my company, Golden Phoenix Branding, where I now am able to help other entrepreneurs get their brands off the ground and look as clean and professional as possible.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. I’ve encountered quite a few problems dealing with other entrepreneurs and business owners. I absolutely love my clientele, however, there’s been a few that have brought me some trouble. Before I started my business, I got my first client in a Simon Mall. It was daunting but every task I was faced with (whether digital or physical) I tackled pretty quickly. Everything went smoothly until I got them into the mall.
I negotiated their rent, created their marketing material, built their website and even helped outline their business plan all for them to not want to pay me for my services in the end. I ended up not getting any compensation for my time and work but I didn’t let that affect my well-being. I knew even without compensation, I had this new experience under my belt to push me in the direction I wanted to go.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
My company, Golden Phoenix Branding, is a branding and marketing company that specializes in website design and the design of marketing materials of any kind. We also help build your business plan and marketing strategy so that you’re ready to hit the ground running whenever you’re open for business! I personally specialize in branding and digital marketing. I went to school for Business Management/Graphic Design and I am certified in interior design as well. I have pretty keen senses when it comes to anything marketing related and I’m always willing to assist those around me who may need tips or tricks on getting started with their entrepreneurial journey.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Well as mentioned before, I am talented in many different instruments such as the Violin, Viola, Cello, Piano, Double Bass, Acoustic Guitar and I’m a pretty fantastic vocalist also. I do, however, have a severe stage fright that has hindered my dreams of being an RNB singer, but never stops me from having a concert in my shower or my car! I’m a licensed bartender, print model and natural hair influencer on social media. Doing natural hair tutorials on YouTube really helped me gain my following and helped me get into my niche of entrepreneurship.
