Today we’d like to introduce you to Elliott Schackne.
Elliott, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Having been an athlete my entire life, fitness was always a hobby. I played D1 tennis and football at UConn, and being in the gym or playing sports was a constant in my life.
In 2008, I decided to leave my career as a cameraman in the film industry to turn my hobby into a full-time job. It began in the crossfit world, spending about 6 years as a coach and competitor until I started my private personal training practice.
The needs of my clients took me around the country and around the world for dozens of certifications and mentorships, which have grown my practice into a truly wholistic fitness approach – strength training, advanced program design, and naturopathic health.
In addition to coaching clients, I also coach coaches. Education has always been a huge passion and one of the main reasons I initially began coaching. At commercial gyms like LifeTime and boutique personal training centers, it’s been incredibly fulfilling to provide trainer education on nutrition, supplements, and health.
I currently offer online coaching and select in-person training as a strength & physique coach, Integrative Nutrition coaching, trainer education, and public speaking.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No. Starting a new career from scratch is hard enough to do once. I’ve had to completely restart my coaching business 3 times.
In the last nine years, I’ve moved my entire life 3 times for coaching positions that were taken away without warning. Leaving me high and dry and forced to restart my business from scratch.
The moves have included a different city, a different state, and even a different country.
