Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been passionate about beauty, wellness, and entrepreneurship. My journey began humbly in 2009, when I started offering spa services out of my live/work loft in Downtown Los Angeles. It was just me, my treatment table, and a dream—but it gave me the foundation to connect with clients, refine my craft, and build relationships that would carry me forward.

In 2010, I officially launched **DESUAR Spa**, a name I created by blending my first and last name, “Deisy + Suarez.” Over the years, I became both a licensed esthetician and massage therapist, expanding my expertise and curating treatments that go far beyond skincare—they’re about healing, rejuvenation, and self-care. Growing DESUAR has been both a joy and a challenge: navigating permits, managing cash flow, building a strong team, and learning the business side of wellness. But my persistence and vision paid off.

Today, DESUAR Spa has grown into a multi-location brand—inside luxury hotels, in the heart of Los Angeles, and even in my private Sherman Oaks studio where I see select clients. What started as a small dream has become a recognized California wellness destination, known for its immersive, therapeutic, and sensory spa experiences. My mission has always been the same: to help people feel good in their own skin, to create spaces that promote peace and healing, and to prove that with passion and perseverance, dreams can truly come alive.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like many entrepreneurs, I’ve faced my share of challenges. In the beginning, it was about finding the right location, building a loyal client base, and figuring out how to make my business financially sustainable. Over the years, the struggles have shifted—staffing has always been one of the hardest parts, making sure I find the right people who align with the vision and standard of care I’ve built. There have been moments where I worked around the clock, sometimes 24/7, with little to no break, and balancing my personal life with running multiple locations has been a constant challenge.

Resources and support are not always easy to come by, and as a business owner, you learn to be creative and resourceful with what you have. There were times when the weight of responsibilities felt overwhelming, but every obstacle has pushed me to grow stronger, more resilient, and more determined. It’s been a bumpy road at times, but one that has been worth it because it allowed me to create something meaningful and lasting.

We’ve been impressed with Desuar Spa, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At DESUAR Spa, we are more than just a day spa — we are a wellness destination. We specialize in creating restorative, therapeutic, and luxurious experiences that combine advanced technology with traditional healing practices. What I want readers to know is that our brand is about more than beauty — it’s about healing, self-care, and creating meaningful experiences. We don’t just treat the skin or the body; we nurture the whole person.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, I was always very extroverted, happy, and outgoing. I’ve always been the type of person who is friendly, social, and eager to connect with others. I was also very crafty and creative, and beauty became my natural outlet from a young age. I loved experimenting with beauty rituals—not just on myself, but also on my friends and family. It was my way of expressing myself and also helping others feel good.

I was born in the Dominican Republic, and I carry that island-girl joy and warmth with me everywhere I go. Later, I grew up in New York, and I remember how during the winter it would get dark so early. To keep myself entertained, I would turn to beauty—it gave me something positive to focus on and kept me inspired. Looking back, I realize that those moments shaped my passion and set me on the path to the career I have today.
