Today we’d like to introduce you to Daphney Poyser.
Hi Daphney, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
After 20+ years in Corporate America, I decided that 2020 would be the year that I look for something more meaningful to focus my career on.
After months and months of using multiple dating apps and then employing a matchmaking service to help me find lasting love with little success, I realized that finding love was more challenging for people of different ethnicities like myself. After talking with my friends and family, I also realized there were similar dating issues within the LGBTQ+ dating world.
Putting the above experience together with my passion for helping people, I decided to start my own matchmaking business for people who want to love whoever and however they please and not have to be tied to societal norms or denied love because of their race or sexual preference. In my mind, the new normal is open for people to date someone outside of their race, someone of the same sex, someone who is much younger or older, or even someone who has different viewpoints, religious beliefs and backgrounds. Whatever that is, it is someone’s normal, and we are here to help create a new social norm for everyone to love whoever and however they please.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Of course not, but as they say that nothing worth having is easy. I believe in what I do and am honored to be able to service the community of people that I get to work with every day.

Ultimately I am most proud of the work my team and I have been able to accomplish over these last couple of years. When we started out we were a one-woman show and have since grown to a team of six. It has been an absolute pleasure to work with them, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for us.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
If I can give people one recommendation in wanting to start a business is that it can’t be about you. It should be grounded in wanting the best for others in a way that surpasses all of the hard stuff that comes with wanting to do something different, better and more meaningful.
