We recently had the chance to connect with Chevy Harvey and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Chevy, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What is a normal day like for you right now?
The new norm for me is I now live in Los Angeles California. I took a leap of faith and moved from Atlanta and it’s been magnificent.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hey Everyone,
My name is Chevonne a.k.a Chevy. I am a Black female photographer now based out of Los Angeles. I practice studio and portrait photography. I like creating and capturing off guards maybe even awkwardness to create beauty. I started my photography journey first as a model realizing there aren’t to many women in the photography world and I felt that women especially black wonen deserved a photographer that sees them. That understands there vision.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
My Relationship with My sisters/bestfriends shaped me into the person I am today. They never allowed me to doubt myself and always knew I would be greater than any thought I had in my mind. Without them I really don’t know where I would be.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Almost every day I thought about giving up but everyday I pushed myself to be greater than what I was the day before. That thought of giving up is what drives me to keep going to create an impact in the world even if it’s the smallest thing. I know I’m destined to be better than I was and who I was
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
I like to believe everyone shows a part of their true selves to the public. Something’s aren’t meant for the public and for everyone to see. I’m not an open book however I’m a reading chapter that will make you want to continue reading the entire book.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I would stop living to please everyone and do everything my heart desires. I would live out my wildest dreams and explore the world.
