Check Out Tracy Torres’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tracy Torres

Hi Tracy, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’m a first-generation Mexican-American woman who grew up in Costa Mesa, California. Growing up in a predominantly white neighborhood, I often felt unseen and struggled to find where I truly belonged. Makeup became my therapy and my form of self-expression, helping me navigate those feelings and embracing my identity. I would spend hours watching YouTube tutorials and practicing on myself—and on my sister whenever I could! I officially started my journey in the social media beauty industry in 2021, working with a startup brand and discovered the potential of dedicating my time and passion to something meaningful. Today, I share my love of makeup and personal experiences to create the representation I longed for as a child. If my story or work makes even one person feel seen and understood, then I know I’m on the right path!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s definitely not been a smooth road, and in many ways, it still feels like a path I’m navigating daily! Which is absolutely okay. Within the Beauty Industry, two of my biggest challenges have been dealing with comparison and finding a sustainable work-life balance. Comparison is the thief of joy, and I’m constantly learning to appreciate my own journey, embracing where I am right now and being thankful for the amazing opportunities that have come my way. Balancing content creation, which is my true passion, with the demands of a full-time job can be difficult, but when you truly love something, you find ways to make it work. It’s a continuous lesson in self-compassion and prioritizing what brings joy!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I currently work in retail for a major, sports-driven shoe company, specializing in visual merchandising. Growing up, I played soccer and was involved in sports heavily, so it’s been rewarding to merge my love for teamwork with my creative strengths in this role. Being able to channel that competitive, collaborative energy while creating engaging displays has given me the best of both worlds. I feel extremely grateful and lucky to have coworkers/ managers who believe in me and my creativity,
giving me the freedom to express my ideas while helping me grow throughout this journey. Balancing this with my passion for content creation makes the experience all the more fulfilling!

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory has to be spending Christmas with my best friend and her family. Every year, her whole family would come together for these extravagant cookouts, and both of our families would merge! We’d laugh, play music, eat good food and just have genuine fun together. Those moments were filled with so much joy and warmth, and they gave me a true sense of togetherness. She’s still my friend to this day, and I’ll always treasure those special times we shared.
