Today we’d like to introduce you to Tatyana Stark.
Hi Tatyana, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In 2023 I quit my job at Trader Joes and took a solo trip to Bali to complete my first 200 hour Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training. Since then I have completed a 50 hour Sculpt, 100 Hour Mat Pilates, and my second 200 Hour Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training. Currently I am in the last month of my 450 Hour Comprehensive Pilates Teacher Training through Equinox.
Ever since that trip I have been working as a Yoga and Pilates instructor at different studio spaces, gyms and country clubs all over the Valley ranging from Westlake Village to Woodland Hills and even Studio City and Malibu.
Another layer to my story is my small photography business, Tatyana Stark Photography. Since 2021 I have been pursuing my photography career. I will love to create and get inspired by my community through portraits, events, small businesses, and weddings. I currently focus on the fitness world and shoot events revolving around studios I currently work at or peers looking to promote themselves in the fitness space.
My mom has been a huge motivator in my journey this far. She has been my student since the beginning of this journey for me and continues to train with me to this day. I want to see her healthy and strong as she continues to travel and enjoy what she’s worked so tirelessly for my whole life. She was my motivation to continue my education and dive into anatomy, special populations, one-on-one private sessions, injuries, and work to build my confidence to lead anybody safely and productively through movement.
Every single day I lead people through movement the best way I can. I am incredibly grateful to have the opportunity and passion to strengthen and guide my communities. Movement is a blessing and its often overlooked. Hopefully I help people see that and help them reach their best versions of themselves that day.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I’ve learned so much along the way. Every struggle or low time has only led me to lessons and strengthened me so I could overcome the next hurdle. This is not a traditional career path and there have been many struggles including complex scheduling/changes, financial instability, overworking, stress on my physical body and keeping up with my own strength, imposter syndrome…etc. Despite all of the struggles, I end every day in gratitude. I know the path I’ve chosen is hard, but the work I do is good and it helps people. I am fulfilled by my community and the feedback I get. I am dedicated to my students who show up to class week after week. Even if I guided one single person into a deep breath that day, I know I’ve done good work.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a Yoga and Pilates instructor for studios, gyms and country clubs all throughout the Valley. I am also a photographer for families, small businesses and individuals.
I get to be a part in so many people’s lives and hopefully leave with something positive – whether that be through movement or a memory.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I will do it all. Eager to learn a new hobby or skill. This could range from Boxing, Crocheting to Camping. Triathlons are next on my list… or maybe ceramics?
