Check Out Sergey Shar’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sergey Shar

Hi Sergey, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
This is a super short story but we can go in detail if needed.
Im a first generation immigrant. I was making music back home then moved to US and continued my journey. It actually written nicely in a book thats coming out this year. Long story short I built a recording studio in my bedroom and worked with local artists. I had to move a lot and got tired of setting up studio again and again so I had an idea to put it on wheels. So I bough $300 camper from 1979 and started building. Later I realized this idea works but someone broke into my trailer and stole equipment.
Quick step back to go to us army to earn citizenship, learn to operate trailers and get commercial driver license. Then few years working as a truck driver and I saved enough to build a new Mobile Recording Studio and here I am in the city of my dreams, making it better by providing a unique service.
This studio also has a stage in the back for secret shows and pop up open mics. I make videos about it. Its on my youtube channel

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not at all I should have been back home crying like a million times already but I trust my journey and its worth it so far. It took me 15 years to get where im at and this is only a beginning. I sacrificed everything possible in order to be here. I left my friends and family and it was 5 years before i was able to see them again. I was homeless when someone scammed me for a rental property. Sometimes I had a hardboiled egg to eat all day. Permanently broke and doing dirtiest jobs just to survive another day. I had a drug problem as well. Theres a lot of bad stuff happened on the way but I dont want to talk about it really. Its in the past. But I was also been given an opportunity to live and grow with in a greatest country in the world and it showed me lots of cool stuff that I was never supposed to see. Sometimes I lived like a king too. Music has been my beacon, it opened many doors for me and so much more yet to come.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I started in early childhood when my parents forced me to attend music school after elementary. I hated it but kept playing piano maybe because it was no internet back then. Closer to college years we were rapping in early 2000s and got a little successful in our hometown. That showed I could be doing what like and get paid for it just not in that country lol. Then I moved to us. My team couldn’t come with me so I had to learn everything on my own. First I got some recording equipment and started to learn audio engineering, then started making videos about it. Its a never ending learning curve and Im proud to be able to do it for so many years. And I cant stop I will never stop. I tried other ways and it does not work for me. I need to be on my own path because it makes me grow as person instead of just growing as a professional.

What does success mean to you?
Being able to do what you love to do. However you want, whenever you want, however you want with whoever you want. Not wasting your time on something you dont like even if it means money.
