Today we’d like to introduce you to Ruby Mountain.
Hi Ruby, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Los Angeles called me here. I didn’t come to test it out. I came to make music.
Before LA, I was doing what most artists do to survive. I worked multiple jobs, including live audio engineering and artist assistance, while building my own creative world in the background. When I finally moved here, I chose devotion over safety. There was no backup version of myself.
I produce, sing, dance, and I’ve recently started studying acting in Hollywood. I’m here because I trust my instincts and because creation isn’t optional for me. I love the moment when music stops being something you listen to and becomes something you feel together.
I describe my work as Venusian. Music sent from Venus to Earth. It’s about bringing beauty, pleasure, love, and truth back into the body and back into movement.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been smooth, but it’s been honest.
The biggest challenge has been resisting the idea that numbers define worth. Likes, streams, and visibility are loud, but they aren’t the reason I create. I’ve learned to choose intuition over algorithms and sensation over validation.
In a time when trends reward sameness, staying original takes discipline. I stay grounded in real exchanges. Eye contact after shows. Conversations that linger. The energy that passes between people when something is felt, not just consumed. That’s where the truth lives.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I make electronic dance music I call Venusian dance music. It blends R&B, hip-hop, drum and bass, and house. It’s emotional, physical, and cinematic. Music meant to move your body while opening something softer underneath.
What sets me apart is that I’m not chasing a sound. I’m building a world. I collaborate with the 3rd Eyes from Venus, who joins me as a producer and sometimes takes shape as dancers in live shows. Together, we create performances that feel immersive, intentional, and alive.
I’m most proud of my live work. That’s where everything converges. Voice, movement, breath, sweat, energy. No filters. Just presence.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love LA’s contradictions. The light and the shadows. The beauty and the grit. I love the canyons, Old Hollywood, sunsets, and Little Tokyo. This city holds every frequency if you’re willing to tune in.
What I like least is the cynicism. LA can harden people when they stop creating. Once I understood that, the noise softened. This city rewards those who stay open and keep going. Not perfectly, but honestly.
