Check Out Peggy Wu’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Peggy Wu.

Peggy (Peixi) Wu

Hi Peggy, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I am a visual and product designer based in LA. Drawing from a background in design and psychology, my passion lies in creating design works that integrate with technology and establish meaningful connections with my audience.

From Beijing to New York and Los Angeles, my journey shaped my identity and fueled my passion for design. Born and raised in Beijing. Then, I pursued my undergraduate studies in Psychology at Syracuse. It was during this time that I discovered a latent passion for design. I found out that design is really a powerful medium that can translate what I thought to broad range of audience in an engaging way. Now based in Los Angeles, I am thrilled about the endless possibilities that lie ahead. I am dedicated to blending my design expertise with psychological insights, pushing the boundaries of what is possible.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t been a smooth journey. I wasn’t clear about my career path and what I wanted to pursue. During the transition from an economic and psychology background to graphic design, I experienced feelings of being lost and anxious. Stepping into an unfamiliar industry outside my comfort zone really intensified these emotions. My strategy for this overthink involves focusing on the present, thinking about what I want to do now, and simply starting. This approach not only allows me to appreciate the progress made but also enables me to discover unexpected ideas along the way.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My passion for designing delightful experiences takes a meaningful turn in the “BOO” exhibition, where I utilize balloons as a medium to depict the intricate correlation between excessive stress and psychological problems. Motivated by concerns surrounding sub-health psychological problems, my aim is to provide the audience with a personal space for relaxation. The goal is to enable individuals to explore their feelings and embrace all emotions by focusing on their inner psychological state. “BOO” goes beyond a typical design exhibition, delving into the realm of psychological well-being. Through innovative balloon use and interactive experiences, I hope that my work can offer the audience a personal space to relax. Thus, the audience can better excavate their feelings and embrace all of their emotions by paying attention to their inner psychological state.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
I find joy in trying something new—whether it’s experimenting with different design styles, exploring unconventional mediums, or stepping outside my comfort zone. The process of designing a new project brings me happiness, as does engaging in conversations with other designers and artists. Embracing the unknown is a means for me to acquire energy and have new ideas.
