Today we’d like to introduce you to Meya Sanyang.
Hi Meya, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Floral Therapy by Meya was born in one of the most tender chapters of my life. I was rebuilding, reimagining and learning how to find my way back to myself. As a single mother of two sons working full-time, life can be full of to do lists. But somewhere in the middle of all those responsibilities, flowers found me. They gave me something I hadn’t even realized I was searching for: peace, purpose, and a language of my own.
What began as a creative outlet quietly became something far more profound. Floristry became a form of therapy and so the name chose itself. Through flowers, I found a way to tell stories, to process emotion, and to create beauty in the ordinary moments of everyday life. I threw myself into learning, attending workshops, refining my craft and gradually, what was once my private therapy became a business.
My aesthetic is rooted in old-world glamour, sensuality, and softness. I’m drawn to arrangements that feel elegant and intentional and a little cinematic, like a scene you want to linger in. What moves me most is the way flowers can transform a space, shift the energy of a room, and leave a feeling that outlasts the arrangement itself. For me, floristry has never been simply about making something beautiful. It’s about creating an experience. A memory. A mood. An entire vibe.
I’m still very much on this journey, and I hold that close. My story is about having the courage to begin, even while life is still unfolding around you. Building this business has helped me reclaim my voice, my creativity, and my sense of possibility.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road has not been a smooth one. One of my biggest challenges has been visibility. Getting my work in front of the right people, consistently marketing myself and building up enough momentum for the orders to come in regularly. Another challenge is putting myself out there. When your business is your artist creation, it can feel vulnerable to share it publicly and ask people to invest in it. I have had moments of crushing self-doubt.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I consider myself both an artist and a creative. My work lives at the intersection of floristry, storytelling, and presentation. Through Floral Therapy by Meya, I create floral designs that feel elegant, emotionally resonant, and deeply intentional. I specialize in arrangements and floral experiences that are not only beautiful, but memorable. I pay close attention to the atmosphere a piece creates, the feeling it leaves behind, and the details that make it feel personal.
I’m especially known for my presentation and my branding. I love the finishing touches that elevate an arrangement into an experience: a wax seal, a special silk ribbon, a feather, beautiful wrapping, or a luxurious bloom selection that gives the work a distinct mood and identity. For me, floristry is not just about flowers in a vase. It is about creating something that feels thoughtful, layered, and artful from beginning to end.
What I am most proud of is the work I’ve done in partnership with skilled nursing facilities. It means a great deal to me to bring beauty to people who may be in vulnerable seasons of life and to create moments where they still feel seen, remembered, and cared for. That part of my work feels especially close to my heart because it reflects what I believe floristry can do at its best: offer comfort, dignity, and connection.
What sets me apart is that my work is deeply personal and emotionally led, while still being refined and elevated in presentation. I care not only about how something looks, but how it feels to receive it. My brand is rooted in beauty, yes, but also in tenderness, intention, and the belief that flowers can say what words sometimes cannot.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I think alignment has played a far greater role in my life and business than luck. Some of the most beautiful things that have emerged for me were born out of seasons that initially felt heavy, uncertain, or bleak. In one of those seasons, I found myself drawn to flowers in a deeper way, not just as objects of beauty, but as living things with their own language, needs, and rhythms. I wanted to understand them: their names, their personalities, what helps them flourish, and what causes them to fade.
Looking back, that curiosity was its own kind of realignment. It led me toward work that feels deeply connected to who I am. The opportunities, relationships, and meaningful moments I’ve experienced along the way have felt less like chance and more like confirmation that I am walking in the direction I was meant to find. For that, I’m incredibly grateful.
