Check Out Mandy Martino’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mandy Martino.

Hi Mandy, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I grew up loving SNL and watching Superstar and Joe Dirt on repeat and knew that’s what I wanted to do. While getting my business degree at UCF counting the days till I could move to LA, I took improv classes at Saks Comedy Lab and stand-up classes at The Orlando Improv. Once I graduated I packed my car and move to LA to begin following my dreams. I started classes at The Groundlings Theater and School right away and went through all their core classes while also following my passion for stand-up. I’ve been in LA for 8 years now and still pushing every day to make my career in comedy everything I’ve always dreamed of.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s been a pretty smooth road. The main struggle has always been having work get in the way but if there’s a will there’s a way. Luckily I know get paid to perform so it feels good to have gotten to this point.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
One thing that sets me apart for the stereotypical stand-up is that I am a very happy person. Which is why I love comedy so much, it makes me happy to make other people happy because nothing feels better than that. I ended up making a merch line called Mostly Happy cause you can’t alwayssss be happy. 🙂

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I stumbled upon stand-up when I was in college and the improv class I was taking on the side was full. So I called up The Orlando Improv to see if they had classes and I signed up and fell in love with stand-up.
