Today we’d like to introduce you to Maddie And Gaby Capozza
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
We were introduced to music as babies from our grandfather who was a multi-instrumentalist. We grew up singing and playing piano, and began teaching ourselves guitar using our grandfathers instruments in high school. As identical twins, we learned how beautifully our voices sounded together.
In high school we uploaded covers on YouTube regularly, despite criticism from classmates, and live streamed on streaming apps throughout college. We attended different universities in order to create our own identities. For the last 2 years of school, Maddie transferred to LMU in California, while Gaby continued at John Carroll in Cleveland. This was the farthest we had been separated, but we quickly reunited when Gaby moved to Los Angeles 2 weeks after graduating.
We now enjoy writing, releasing and performing our music. Our goal now is writing music that is relatable and uplifting while different than the average “pop song”. Our latest single, New Moon, reminds the listener to slow down, breathe, and let go. Spirituality is very important to us, and we wanted to represent this in a song. We all tend to worry about things that lack importance in the scheme of things. We are just tiny little beings in this vast universe, and this song was written to remind everyone of just that.
We are continuing to write songs that are less stereotypical, and will be releasing more of these songs in 2025.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
For starters, our high school didn’t support or encourage creativity. We were made fun of posting videos on YouTube, and lost friends because of it. This didn’t stop us from sharing our musical talents.
While in LA, it’s been a bit competitive and challenging getting our name out there, but we don’t let that discourage us from pursuing our passion.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We bring uniqueness to the music industry as identical twins who harmonize with our R&B vocals on pop or folk sounding instrumentals. We play guitar and piano, and write our own music. We are known for our original songs and the way our voices blend together.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Being identical twins is the unique characteristic that is most important to our success. Additionally, having positive energy and vibes when writing and performing music is important in this industry.
