Check Out Janelle Safford’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Janelle Safford.

Hi Janelle, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I have been doing music my entire life. I have always been interested in combining art with my personal experiences which is why singing and songwriting have become my lifelong passion. I began writing songs in my bedroom after I listened to artists such as Selena Gomez. Musicians like her inspired me to create art regardless of how vulnerable the experience is that I am going through.

Now, I am able to fully write and produce music on my own which would have not been possible if I did not put in the constant amount of work that I do in my daily life. This hardworking attitude that I have developed has allowed me to create the type of music such as my new song “I Guess”. This new song that I have released is about the time when a relationship has come to an end you want to mend what has been broken but the other individual has already moved on. “I Guess is a song I wrote and produced on my own. This piece combines emotional vocals that dissolve into a mix of cello with rich piano and guitar melodies.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Becoming a successful artist and creating music that is in mainstream genres have been a long road to overcome. The pressure that is placed to constantly create and release music that fits into the most popular genre of music has caused a lot of consideration to be done when creating a piece. But, overtime I have realized that regardless of what the most popular genre of music is at the moment, creating pieces that are true to my vision will find the right crowd of people.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I create original music and I specialize in fully producing these pieces as well. Lately, I have become interested in developing sounds for film and live performances. Through these interests that I have, I plan on fusing both of my musical passion to create artistic visual components to my music and live performances. From everything I have done, I am most proud of the original music I have released since I have been able to take a simple idea and develop it into a polished piece.

How do you think about luck?
Bad luck has played an important role in the art I create. Negative experiences I wish had never happened in the moment are actually seen as material for new music that I create afterward. Oftentimes, the most upsetting experiences I have gone through have ultimately created some of my best pieces.
