Check Out Helara Tesfaye’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Helara Tesfaye.

Helara, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started my modelling career from age 17 with runway jobs. My first runway event was one of Africa’s biggest fashion shows called Africa Fashion Reception which is organized annually at the African Union in Addis Ababa. It features African designers from all over the continent and the diaspora. The event is aimed at empowering women and youths across Africa in the various fashion vocations. This fashion show gave me a huge exposure. I immediately after the event got lots of advertising and editorial jobs. They include various Tv commercials and billboards. Also, I started travelling around Africa and later Rome, Milan, Paris, New York, LA etc.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has been very tough and challenging. But because I have a great passion for modelling, I was able to overcome the various challenges

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Apart from modelling, i founded my own clothing brand called Birk design. It services high earned clients. We have had very successful fashion shows and editorials. Following my active participating in gym activities, I will soon be introducing my new brand called Hela. It is an active daily and gym wears.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
For me, I look forward to establishing one of the biggest modelling agencies in Africa where young girls from across Africa can achieve their modelling dreams and empower their local communities
