Today we’d like to introduce you to Gary Private.

Hi Gary, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Born in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, New York 2nd gen Italian/American Gary Private started out as a drummer playing the N.Y. club circuit (Max’s Kansas City, CBGB’s, Coventry, Peppermint Lounge) etc; with many NYC bands (Legs Latreau, Dancer, Arrival) continuing on to front his own band. Signing a recording contract as singer/songwriter, G.Pvt. went on to record with Select Records. Soon after a requested performance at Studio 54 (NYC) for Calvin Klein’s birthday party, he was signed by Atlantic Records which then released a remake of the Four Tops song “Reach Out, I’ll Be There.” The next record on Atlantic was Secret Love, which featured original songs written by Private. Following this, (4 albums and 7 singles) Private was featured on Dick Clark’s American Bandstand twice, Playboy’s Girls of Rock-N-Roll, Disney’s Flight of the Navigator, daytime soap “One Life To Live”, Teen Beat magazine, Details Magazine and Billboard Magazine’s Top Album and Single picks. Gary has worked with some of the greatest musicians in the world: T.M.Stevens on bass, David Bowie’s Stan Harrison on Sax, Arno Hecht on sax, Steely Dan’s “Elliott Randall” on guitar, Meatloaf’s Bob Kulick on guitar and probably the greatest all time Rock-N-Roll bass player Kenny “Double A” Aaronson. Guitarist Steve Restaino , The amazing Elliott (the Grand Wazoo) Glenn (RIP) on every instrument imaginable (There are no words for Elliott’s influence on my life!.) John Gitano of “The American Relics” (who also was the leader of (“Legs Latreau”),, Jimmy Dechon on guitar, Gus (Gussy Kidd) Sasso on drums and my backup singer Richard Younger . Produced by Steve Tyrell w/Barry Mann, Fred Munao, David Kitay and Rick Knowles.
Also 2017 to 2021 Warner Brothers Music released “32” compilation albums at least one song on every album performed & written by Gary Private.
~In 2021-22- Recorded at Diane Warrens personal studio “REALSONGS Hollywood singing her song “Faith Of The Heart” !
-Recorded duets with CAITLIN GREY of Liverpool! 1 song written by by Frank Stallone “CARRY ON” just released August this year,
and soon to be released song by DIANE WARREN “Only Love Can Hurt Like This”

SAG/AFTRA actor: Appearing in films as a featured, co-star, supporting actor with talents such as: James Spader, Quentin Tarantino, Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Tom Berenger, Tom Sizemore, William Forsythe, Michael Biehn, David Proval, Michael Madsen, D.B Sweeney, Tony Lip, Carlo Rota, Nick “Green Book” Vallelonga, Frank Stallone, Francesco Quinn, Timothy Murphy, Stana Katic, Diane Verona, James Russo, Kelly Hu, Jim Belushi, Ron Gilbert, Tommy Tiny Lister, Eric Roberts, Robert Miano, James Cromwell, Tony Denison, Cory Feldman etc.. Gary has done numerous sound tracks and voice overs, commercials (ex: Orbit Gum, Betty Crocker, etc) More credits available upon request. Co-Produced the documentary A.K.A. PRIVATE (2013 release)

In 1985 he moved to Los Angeles where he worked in LA hospitality: (8 years lead security for the House of Blues Foundation Room on Sunset Blvd,L.A.; Trained the opening team at the Mandalay Bay Hotel/Casino H.O.B. Foundation Room in Las Vegas (1999); Received Presidential seal/name embossed cuff-links from President Bill Clinton for assisting the Secret Service during his visit to H.O.B.; Co-event coordinator for the House of Blues Fdtn Rm temporary Sundance Film Festival location in Utah; Managing partner of Hollywood & Vine Diner/Ultra Lounge nightclub L.A.; GM of Platinum Live in Studio City).

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I didn’t grow up in the Tic Tok generation! WE ACTUALLY HAD TO REHEARSE & HAVE ACTUAL TALENT.
Not like todays anyone with an Iphone thinks their a star!
