Today we’d like to introduce you to Darren Chilingirian

Hi Darren, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.

Hi! I’m Darren Chilingirian, but I go by Darren Chillin. I’m 11 years old, bilingual, and a pop artist from Los Angeles. I’ve been getting into music for a while now, and it’s really exciting to see more people following along! I have over 10,000 followers on Instagram, and I just released my first single, “Earth To Mars.” It’s a song about believing in yourself and not giving up, and people in over 30 countries have heard it so far! I started learning piano when I was three and picked up guitar when I was six. I also work closely with my vocal coach and co-writer, Roberta Michele.

Things really started moving when I began performing at different events and venues. Now I get to share my music at places like galas, fundraisers, school events, and other cool venues. One of the best moments so far was meeting Ed Sheeran, who’s one of my biggest inspirations. He even gave me a signed guitar, which was amazing! Besides music, I like to hang out with my family and friends, play basketball, collect cards, and play video games. You can follow me on Instagram and YouTube to keep up with what I’m doing.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?

Chasing my dream in music is awesome, but it’s definitely not always easy. Since I’m young, I can’t perform at some venues because of age restrictions, and sometimes adults don’t take me seriously. It’s also hard to balance school with all the music stuff I’m doing. Between homework, activities, and practice, it’s a lot to juggle. I still try to make time for piano, guitar, songwriting, and getting ready for shows.

Even though it’s sometimes tough, I’m really focused on my music. I’ve learned a lot about staying disciplined and managing my time. My love for music keeps me going no matter what!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?

I’m super excited about my future in music! My debut single, “Earth to Mars,” shows a lot of what I want to do as an artist. I’ve already put out an original Armenian song called “Mayr Hayastan” which was written by Liana Martirosian and was well received by the community, and we are working on another Armenian song right now. I’m also writing another original English song, so there’s a lot to look forward to! I enjoy sharing cover songs too, and I like putting my own twist on popular ones. My focus and love for music keep me motivated to keep going and keep improving. I’m learning more every day, and I can’t wait to share what’s next!
