Check Out Caye Tittmann’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Caye Tittmann.

Hi Caye, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I grew up in a town called Belmont, right outside of Boston, MA. I started playing classical piano when I was young, switching over to Drums and Steel Drums years later. When I turned 12, I was given Logic Pro as a Christmas present and started producing hip hop beats. I spent that next summer in Trinidad with my dad. We were kindly hosted by this family who showed us around the music scene down there and even invited me to jam in their family band. This is where I fell in love with music.

Throughout my teenage years, I was producing, writing, playing in various jazz bands and rock bands around the city, and switching off weekends attending a Jazz program at New England Conservatory and competing in Tennis tournaments. (There was a time when I thought my future was playing D1 tennis.) Around the time I turned 16, I started releasing some of my songs on Soundcloud. The word started to spread around my high school and then soon around other schools in the area. Not long after, I started playing shows.

When I turned 18, I moved to LA to attend the music program at USC. After a year, I got an offer to open on a tour through Canada and the US. The next two years, I was on the road a lot until quarantine happened and everything stopped. I spent a lot of quarantine creating what is now my new album, “We Love”.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hardly ever is. I’ve had my fair share of industry BS, disagreements with management companies, breakups, bad contracts, and scraping together pennies to pay rent. The road has only begun to be less rocky recently.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m an artist. A creator. I’m most proud of my music but I love to create in many mediums. I’m known for my music, specializing in production and writing. I guess what sets me apart is that I’m able to play multiple instruments (voice, guitar, bass, piano, drums, steel pans, didgeridoo), so I’m able to produce, write and record all in-house. The other thing is the amount of time and loves me and the people I work with put into the music.

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Definitely. Aside from all the death, tragedy, and political turmoil, Covid was beautiful time in a lot of ways. For once, the world was forced to stop. Everyone was forced to breathe, to stay home and hibernate. It gave me time to work on myself and discover who I was and wanted to be. It taught me the importance of time. It gave me a lot of direction on what I wanted to accomplish and how I wanted to live.
