Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittney Levine.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My background began in Public Relations – I represented various fashion, beauty, and lifestyle brands and secured numerous placements for them in print, online, and on TV.
My TV career stemmed from that, where I had booked one of my clients onto a regional station and they decided that they didn’t want to travel for the segment. Rather than lose the opportunity and risk my relationship with the producer, I let her know that while my client could no longer do it, I had done segments in the past and could definitely fill in. While I had only done some “modeling” stints for other experts at that point, I knew the information front and backwards. After the first one, I got the itch and started doing more. Our clients were happy, and they were able to get much more exposure, as I could write them into my pitches.
In addition to morning shows, I have been working on QVC for the last five years and currently representing Berkshire Blanket.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The TV business is truly not for the faint of heart. I’ve had to develop a really strong backbone and have been told the word, “No,” and turned down so many times. It’s hard to not get discouraged when those things happen, but if you continue to pursue relationships and come back with unique ideas, hopefully one will stick.
At one point, I was representing 10 clients, just so I could work on one TV segment. I wasn’t getting paid by any brands at the time but knew I needed to grow my reel and show brands that I could speak to them they way they wanted to be spoken about on air. Lots of sleepless nights and early morning call times, where I then worked the entire rest of the day.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
For the past 10 years, I’ve been traveling around the country, contributing to various regional and national TV stations as a Style and Trend Expert, speaking to the hottest must-have fashions, beauty, and lifestyle products that you have to have.
Having appeared on NBC’s Today Show, Wendy Williams, EXTRA, E! News, Access Hollywood, Sherri, and more, I’m passionate about helping to launch new businesses and products across fashion, beauty, lifestyle, and entertainment.
In addition, I also represent home and décor line, Berkshire Blanket, on QVC.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Lessons are being learned every single day. I consider myself a total work in progress and am always trying to evolve. It’s hard for me to say no to an opportunity, but I have also learned that by moving on from something that may not be working, allows space for other things to happen. For example, when I parted with an amazing company, it was very scary. I had never been on my own before. But it was the best thing that could have happened to me. It allowed me the chance to fully concentrate on moving into TV, while still trying to survive in NYC.
