Check Out Alan Feldstein’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alan Feldstein.

Alan Feldstein

Hi Alan, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I am a “recovering lawyer” who practiced law for over 20 years. In 2000 after racking up 450,000 frequent flyer miles I asked my wife where she wanted to go in the world. She replied “I have always wanted to go on a safari in Africa”. That trip to Africa changed my life. I saw giraffes and they had me at “Jambo” (hello in Swahili). In 2005 I returned to Africa to successfully climb Mt. Kilimanjaro. After coming down off the mountain I tracked chimps in the Mahale Mountains near where Jane Goodall did her research. It was there I met my future East African Ground Partner who shared a love of kayaking with me. In 2008 I took my children to Africa and on that trip became one of the first people to kayak off the coast of Tanzania in homemade boats. It was there and then that I decided
to leave the practice of law and share my passion for Africa and adventure to create Infinite Safari Adventures (www.infinitesafariadventures.com) Infinite Safari ran its first safari in Tanzania in 2020 and now 15 years later we are proud to create custom itineraries for our clients in 12 different countries in Eastern & Southern Africa as well as Morocco. Infinite Safari does not send anyone anywhere or have them do anything that either I or my team have not been or done ourselves.

In 2023 my wife, Journalist Diane Haithman, and I founded the Infinite Safari Foundation (www.infinitesafarifoundation.org) which is dedicated to humanitarian, educational and conservation initiatives in Africa. It is funded, in large part, from a donation of the cost of each Infinite Safari Adventure safari that is created. From that fund we have saved cheetahs and rhinos, built water wells, sent people to college and many other initiatives.

I am a member of the Adventurer’s Club of Los Angeles and the international Explorers Club. In addition to my foundation work I sit on the boards of the Cheetah Conservation Fund, Saving The Survivors, and The Bird School Project. I am also the author of The Best African Safari – Tips from an Obsessive Planner a definitive guide to help people plan their best safari.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
As a lawyer I tell people I made only half the mistakes I probably would have made. Throughout our 15. years we have dealt with Covid and the shutting down of travel, chaos in our political climate and economic swings. But when you love something and are passionate about it those are just obstacles to clear and keep moving forward. We have been very fortunate on many levels but one thing is how wonderful our clients have been and. how much they are moved and transformed by visiting Africa.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My passion is Africa. It is an amazing place with amazing people. We create custom safaris designed for our clients based on their interests. We do that in 12 different countries in Eastern and Southern Africa as well as Morocco. We have done some amazing things for our clients including such things as renewing wedding vows, private cooking lessons and darting and sedating rhinos. We are also proud that we give back to the communities who support us and our clients. Through our Infinite Safari Foundation we have built water wells, paid for college educations, funded schools, bought veterinarian equipment and helped save wildlife. I think we are very different from many other African tour operators because of our passion, our philanthropy, our attention to detail and service to our clients. One needs to only read our reviews on TripAdvisor and elsewhere to see how transformative our safaris are for our clients.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
People can have their lives changed by going on safari with us. And if that is not possible they can support the work we do through our foundation and help change other lives.
