Sandra Chahayed shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Good morning Sandra, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
What has brought me joy not just lately but throught most of my life is my 11 Blessings. My 6 Nephews and 5 Nieces. Each one of them adds so much love and joy to my life. They each have a special place in my heart. So Proud to be their Auntie. I can’t imagine my life without them.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Growing up my dream was to be a doctor. But life took me down a different path. Although my dream still is to be a doctor and hopefully one day it will happen. Until then I’m the proud owner of Floral Expression for the past 9 years. I have had a passion and love for flowers for the past 21 years.
What makes my shop and my style of work unique is my work ethic. I learned from my Father that hard work pays off and treat everyone with kindness. Everyone is treated like family when they walk into my shop.
My next goal along with my flower shop is to start my photo both business so stay tuned for that adventure.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a child I used to think I would never be or do anything amazing. I was only to ever be a follower never a leader. I was once told by a teacher I was weak and would never amount to anything. Over the past few years I no longer believe that. I have proven to myself I can be something amazing and I will lead rather than follow. I no longer see myself as a little girl afraid to go after what she wants and believes in.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would tell my younger self. Believe in yourself and be proud of who you are. No matter what life throws at you have faith in yourself and say “I can get through this”. You are braver and stronger than you can imagine.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
The person I admire the most for their character not their power would have to be Princess Diana. No matter what she faced she did it with love, courage, and kindness. She was royalty but was also down to earth. She would give pieces of herself and her heart to the less fortunate. She respects all people no matter where they came from. She never let her status of Royalty define who she was.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: When do you feel most at peace?
Sitting in my shop when its total silence and having a conversation with my Grandmother my Mom’s Mom. I am at my most peace. She passed away 25 years ago and was an angel on earth. Most people dont know this but i talk to her about my week, any hard time im having. Or just to share an update on my life. I ask her to send me signs she is proud of me and always looking after me. I know she can’t answer me back. But it brings me peace in life to know she is watching over me and always there when I need her.
